I'm really getting into collecting watches. I bought another one that is cheap but a staple of any mechanical watch collector: the Seagull 1963.

These aren't pics of my actual one but same watch:

https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/H0eaa46c22bb148c899ec30c9e22f741f2/SEAKOSS-Men-s-1963-Pilot-Watch-Chronograph-Skeleton-St1901-Seagull-Movement-Men-Watches-Air-Force-Sapphire.jpg

Indigenous Chinese mechanical watch movement with chronograph complication. Was the official watch of the Chinese Air Force pilots. Was originally a Swiss movement but the Swiss company (Venus) sold the machinery, designs and knowledge to the Chinese.

there are amazing watches for the money. I like the vintage look of em as well. would look good on a nice bund strap. Iv not owned one but been tempted.

I recon ill grab one this winter.

It's an absolute gem of a watch. I've been looking at it using one of my loupes and it's incredible. They keep shitting on Chinese produced things as poor quality but the quality of the 1963 is incredible considering the cost of it.

I was in Laings in Glasgow and seen a Rolex Comsograph Daytona in the flesh and I would absolutely love one. It's a little too expensive for me in the £65,000.00 range. I would stretch my budget out to an absolute maximum of £45,000.00 but I just cannot bridge that £20,000.00 gap so it's a piece I will never own unfortunately. Crying or Very sad

A new air compressor for airbrushing, one with a tank. I have a big one in the garage but this is a dinky little thing with a 3 litre air tank that cycles brtween 3 and 4 bar and controls the working pressure with a standard regulator.

I had a quick practice today and is like chalk and cheese to the little mini compressor I got with the airbbrush as a kit.

Moral of the story, don't go cheap. I have now replaced the airbrush and the compressor after painting one model. £70 for the kit was a waste of money.

Absolutely not, pretty lethal though. It's not that CBD nonsense. These things get you absolutely bollocksed for
about 12 hours, I necked the whole pack and was quickly buzzing like a beehive. I had an epic munchies attack, so
I cooked up, then scoffed a huge meal of liver, bacon and onions in gravy with cheesy mash and peas. Then crashed
out for 3 hours. I was still going strong for another 6hours after I woke up again honestly expecting them to have
worn off after a meal and a nap. But nope, eventually I returned to bed and had a decent, dream free nights sleep
for a change. Thumbs Up

Shrooms are free if you can be arsed to go picking.

Admittedly the morning after the first day of the season you tend to stumble home missing a shoe....

No, I got a free sample bag last week and necked those and experienced as described. Then ordered 10 more bags @
£20 a pop including shipping. Haven't had mushrooms for years but it's a bit early in the year for finding those in the UK.
Last time I had UK picked mushies I made 'tea' using a hundred dried fly agaric and went and sat at the top of One
Tree Hill overlooking Coryton refinery to stare at the twinkly lights and flaming gas exhausts. More recently I had
a variety of different types in Amsterdam, Hawaiian mushrooms is where it's at. Shocked Two boxes of those sent me la la for
ages and gave me a fit of giggles the like of which Ive never experienced before or since.

I agree, I think the Daytona is a truly stunning watch, but for less money I could have a Patek Calatrava (REF: 6119R) and a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph (REF: 26240ST.00.1320ST.05). Both of them are achievable, I mean it would take me about 8 years to pay them off but it's still achieveable.

That is changing really soon tbf Laughing I am a procrastinating cunt get out my arse Laughing

EDIT: also being able to afford something is not the same as buying it, I have bigger priorities than either a bike or a watch at the moment.

V12 Finance do up to £25,000.00 for 60 months interest free at Laings/ Watches of Switzerland. On a Patek Calatrava at £25,720.00 list price do a 10% deposit of £2,572.00 leaving balance of £23148.00 which is £385.80 a month.

More than affordable for a lot of people to be honest since I bet there's people in here that pay more than that on their bike or car HP/PCP.

People legitimately pay that much money just to tell the time?

Cant say i'll ever understand it myself, that said I havent worn a watch in years because I dont want to get it caught in a lathe and turn mself into the forbidden red cloud.

For me it's not about the ability to tell time, if it was that simple, nobody would buy any watch at all (even a tenner digital one) because you can simply look at your phone that you had anyway.

It's more about having something nice, expertly crafted with the finest materials and intense labour element. There's something really nice that I can't really put into words about watches. The latest one I bought is £180 but it has a see-through caseback and I've spent a good bit of time just watching the movement working.

There's also the element of exclusivity, which is probably the reason why most people buy them: because they can.
