2002 r6 shut off while riding

I just recently got an 02 r6 second day of driving it
I noticed the bike start to backfire and then shut off the tac went blank (lights still on) I tried to turn her back on while rolling but she didn't budge. pulled over and tried to inspect what I could from under the seat I noticed when I disconnected a plug that runs off the negative battery ground the tac would come back on showing the mph and speed but when I plugged it back in the tac would go blank again
any idea where that plug leads to ?

Make sure you have good earth from battery try clipping jump lead on to bright metal.
