Hi folks, I need a sanity check please before I buy and/or do something stupid…

I’m replacing some ancient front brake hoses on a 2000 zx6r, the originals consist of a complete one piece assembly: hose from the master cylinder swaged directly to a tiny metal splitter block, and then the two calliper hoses directly swaged from the block then on to the callipers.

Now I can’t find a like for like replacement anywhere, even Kawasaki have discontinued this assembly.

The attachment point for the tiny splitter block is very cramped and I’m not sure an aftermarket splitter lash up will fit.

So can I just use a ‘race type’ set up with two longer hoses using a double length banjo bolt at the master cylinder?

Fine in terms of function, can be tight for routing past the bars and top yoke on some bikes. Banjo bolt is longer and can foul the screen. You're still going to need a P-clip on each fork.

The decent quality T-pieces aren't all that bulky and generally attach to one of the M6 mudguard bolts.

Top tip: I generally fit an integrated hydraulic brake light switch banjo bolt at the same time as new brake lines so I never have to fuck about with broken microswitches again.

Thanks, appreciated, I have plenty of room between m/c and screen so I’ll go go twin hoses Thumbs Up

That’s the setup I run on my GSR right now (came stock with a single line down to one calliper, and a short line from there over to the other side). No harm in it at all, long as you can route it all properly.
