Picked this up after a 14 hour round trip to Alberta with my truck. 2016 model with all the extras including electronic (EDS) suspension and factory hard panniers plus some other goodies.
Guy was selling it a good $3k less than others advertised with low mileage. Thankfully he honour the deal after getting a number of offers way higher after the deal was made.
My wife was not happy with another bike in the garage.

I mentioned before in my KZ750 Thread about how the vehicle insurance is only provided by SGI (Saskatchewan government insurance). Which is extremely expenses for motorcycles unless they are older than 1987 or under 400cc. A 1000cc sports bike is over $3000-3500 per year.
Well according to SGI this bike is classed as a offroad/dualsport model so is only $1300 per year which is less to insure than a Harley Davidson
Another shitty thing is all used vehicles over $5K (based on SGI book value) are taxed at 6% for each new owner. So l had to pay bloody tax on a used bike from a private sale.
So glad l grew up biking in the UK.... ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |

Took the 1190 for a 2 day ride to BC and back with some trail riding back in the summer. Nice to be riding a bike with descent power again.

Few more modifications before l take the bike on a 2-week trip to the Wyoming and Colorado BDRs next week.
https://ridebdr.com/
Cat delete which involved cutting small access into the exhaust collector and hacking out the cat material, had a local company mig weld up the access. Same as l did 15-12 years ago on my BMW R100GSPD and G650XC, which helped lowered exhaust/engine temperatures. Last of the emissions crap removed after the SAS and o2 sensors were deleted.
Sheep skin over the KTM power parts heated seat to improve comfort.
KTM power parts bash plate.
Head light guard and screen wind deflector.
Swapped the mirrors from my G650XC to the KTM as they are far better.
Fork gaters.
New improved fuel pump (common issue on KTMs)
LED Aux lights (pointless as you never ride at night when traveling, but have to look the part )
Aventure spec bags left over from my 2013 TCAT trip across Canada.

Hope you have a solid trip. I've now owned 2 KTMs and both have broken, but I think the larger adventure ones are less prone to shit going bang as they aren't tuned singles |

235kg curb weight which is lighter than a BMW R1250GS at 249kg. Even with my gear which is around 13kg l am still lighter than a GS and have more power. Weight is also the same as my old R100GSPD which l took offroad to Morocco twice on some brutal trails.
One of the main reasons l when with the KTM 1190 is they have proven reliability with some clocking over 200,000km. A lot less electronics than later models. For backroad gravel riding plus a lot of highway miles it should be a good 50/50 bike.
I am planning to finally get my UK BMW G650XC plated in Canada next year (15-year-old import requirement) so will be using that as my lighter travel bike on future trips to the more technical BDR routes. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |
