I think it's broadly slightly right of centre.

You don't seem to get many rabid lefties on here. Probably scared of motorcycles. Which seems odd because the proper commie countries of the old Warsaw pact saw them as an excellent way to cheaply get the proles to their factory pods. Producing a shit-tier 2-stroke single for mass transport and a lacklusture sidecar outfit for military and police use used to be almost a prerequisite for your countries communist credentials.

There seems to be an attraction to motorcycles for some far right factions, probably more to do with the gang culture aspect of motorcycling and they do tend to crop up on here form time-to-time. More usually wannabes talking the talk parroting what they've heard others on about. They generally work pretty hard at getting themselves banned, their feet wouldn't touch on most social media. There was that South African dude who was borderline nazi.

I can't recall seeing many far leftists. Nothing beyond the level of Corbyn really? Probably not even that far in most cases. Or if there are, they don't start harping on about it.

I do. But as I said, doesn't really seem to be anyone genuinely that far left? People said they supported him but I think the whole Corbyn opposition government was a mass trolling campaign by labour members. He was dropped like a hot potato when it looked like he was about to gain any actual traction. There seemed to be a lot of support for the person, less so for his actual policies.

There's the rub, most BCFers own bikes as a choice often owning cars as well. Motorcycle ownership being a leasure choice of a relatively affluent older group. That may change though as car ownership becomes prohibitively expensive and as the Neo-lib project to drive society backwards takes us back to a time when there was mass motorcycle use because it was the affordable transport choice for the ordinary worker. Look at the upswing in sales of 125 bikes and scooters, those sales arnt for kicks there for the simple cost effective utility. Such owners arnt interested in larking about and hanging out on a forum. Ive met a few younger bike owners the last two years and they're choice is driven by economics not culture.

Too a certain extent I agree with what you are saying but the electrification of vehicles is going to put the kybosh on that. Even electrophiles like Robby are saying there isn't an electric bike that ticks the boxes. CG125's are cheap to buy and cheap to run. Electric bikes might be cheap to run but to buy?

Although I'd say a lot of the 40+ year olds first got into bikes as a cheap means of transport when they were in their teens. It was certainly the case for me. It's also why a lot of the older bikers have the knowledge of how to work on and fix their own bikes.

I'm sure more than a few of us found ourselves spending an entire weekend and well into the small hours of Monday morning stripping and re-building a bike because they had work on Monday.

You can get a sur ron registered for the road for £5-6k.

I think there's probably going to need to be a step-change in electric bikes. And I say bikes, not motorbikes because I think the cheap mass transport of the future will be more bicycle than motorcycle shaped. The legislation and licencing has so far failed to keep up. Vehicles like those sur-ron things seem like they are probably the ideal urban commuter transport and those are early adopting and hgih build quality items, the price will come down if people can easily and legally get them on the road.

I might be looking at it the wrong way but I don't regard those as the equivalent of an ubiquitous work horse 125. What's the range. Do they have top boxes etc. And insurance?

Range I don't know. As I said 'registered for the road' insurance is possible.
