HI for anyone who can help in the forum.

I have an nsr 125r.its two years old now.I bought it in 2003 brand new and it came restricted. The top speed i am getting is 75mph.This is getting just a tad bit boring now.Can anybody suggest how and where i could get the restrictors removed.Im living in Dublin, ireland so if anyone knows a garage than can do this at a reosonable rate please help me.

Secondly where does one go about getting tools for the bike.I want to try do some odd jobs on the bike myself.Any good websites to buy tools for nsr125 ???

do it yourself, save money. it is easy to do! just take of the seat, then lift the tank. take off the air box so you get to the intake. then take the metal restricter out, should just be a silver plate restricting the air flow. put it all back together and your Laughing

Steady on lads. Only attempt doing it yourself if you are confident with that sort of thing. While it may be easy for some, it may be really hard for others. Don't want to be doing what me and my friend did when attempting to do mine. He said, "I think we need to move the power valve to get to it." He then proceeded to actually take the power valve apart... I tell you, the hour spent trying to figure out which way the cogs went inside that was not needed at all! Laughing

Good luck anyway Thumbs Up

Or you could just take it to the garage to get it done it will only cost the price of the labour for doin it coz theres only 2 restrictors to remove and if the place is any good they should have it done in a couple of hours easliy

Apparently the rumour goin round is that the irish spec ones are CDI restricted, as over here full power ones are harder to insure than 250's/some 400's and for that reason they brought restricted ones in for cheap insurance. I had a UK spec one that my dealer got from England so was d same as NSR125.com, let me know how much it costs as my friend wants 2 get the irish one

all is bull shit , if do not know the serial number . some are rerstricted on the mechanics , some on the electronics , some on both , some are full power . just check the letter after ZDCJC22 , that will show you , for which country it has been build , even it's sold somewhere else

Over in Ireland we have 12 groups. CBR 250 and Bros 400's are group 5. RS 50's are group 2. TZR125 are group 3. FZR 250 are group 4. Hornet 250 is group 6. RS125 and NSR 125 are group 7, same as a deauville 650 and drz400. They brought out a group 2 version in 2003 of the NSR125 which was restricted. Group 5 quotes me 2252 euro TPO at 19 wit 3 yrs ncb and a full license! I cant get a quote on group 7 til 21. Ridiculous I know but what can we do?

the restrictions are : exhaust & intake
mostly RC valves control unit and not very much on the CDI
make the test i recommand to have an idea :
- unplug the servo-motor
- put your valves in max high and lock them with whatever you find
- take a run (after 5 mn warming up) and look your max RPM on the flat in 5th & 6 th gear
you must reach 11000 rpm in 5 th & 10500 in 6th . if yes pass me a pm and i will guide you

the cdi has no restrictor , it has only a diagram of advance limited at 9500 rpm . have a look on it , some inscriptions are on , the most important is CI xxx , exemple the unrestricted is CI 626 , the french one (restricted) CI 639 . the RC valves control unit is restricted on the settings to open the valves such as the TV-124 (70%) , the TV-78 (90%) here are the diagrams
