 |
|
I've got an old laptop I finally decided to update to Windows 10. It's hitting 100% load and max temps on the desktop after start-up.
I stuck my old Windows 7 drive back in and the temps are fine/no high loads.
Any ideas as to what's going on?

Of course it'd be fine. Windows 10 just runs that little bit better with at least 8GB of RAM, a fast SSD, an i3 or better but apart from that...
If it's "I want Windows because of a specific Windows-only program" then fair enough but if it's just for web surfing, email and writing the occasional letter something like elementary OS would do. ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

I've tried Tiny11 on a handheld before, I wasn't that impressed with it although I was trying to get RAM usage down, so maybe it would help in this situation.
That's the thing, I don't feel like I can trust it when it randomly wants to hit Tjunction.

4GB DDR 2 (don't judge me...) SO-DIMMs seem to be pretty rare and expensive. It's got 3GB currently, I thought about upgrading to 4GB but the 64-bit system requirements are a GB higher, so would I see that much of a performance increase?
It's definitely better with the new CPU (2.0Ghz > 2.8Ghz), I grabbed the CPU from the highest spec' version of this laptop I saw, £6 off aliexpress |
