I bought CA DacMagic 200m. It's a D/A converter with a built-in headphone amp. Now, it's not like I needed such a device, but I got a very good deal, so I decided to at least try it. TL; DR: I do like it.

As for the perceived sound quality, I must say both the headphone out and analogue RCA line out do sound much cleaner and somewhat more spacious and nicer, detailed (accomplished?) in general, compared to the Related ALC1150 D/A inside my computer that I used for years. The Related ALC1150 D/A now feels muffled and distorted to me. Similar story goes for my Walkman NW-A45, but that's a portable unit, and made by Sony, so it does have that Sony sound (V-shaped EQ conspiracy).

*I also used to experiment with one of those FiiO dongles, but never found the sound output any ''better'' than what my PC could do back then. The DacMagic 200m is somewhat a huge leap in perceived audio quality.

Headphone out tested with HD660S, analogue RCA line out tested with active monitors JAMO S 801PM. I only tested the USB input (UAC2) so far, being connected to my W10 PC via exclusive mode (ASIO). The rest of the digital inputs sure sound pretty much the same (optical/coax), even if with a bit limited sample rate. As for the balanced XLR out (dual mono, two D/A chips inside and all that), I'm not gonna even bother with that for now. It also plays DSD files, but I don't have any, and you can choose between three digital filters with a flick of a button. Ground lift for the USB port is also very useful, as I do get a bit of an interference when plugged to my PC and through the RCA to my active monitors. No such issues through the headphones, so I suspect the power supply of my active monitors is not the cleanest around. Lastly, I'm yet to try the Bluetooth module. It supports AptX, that I find alright for occasional use.

What I don't quite like is the fact that although you can switch the unit to a fixed output mode, it does not affect the headphone out. The USB port is UAC2 only, so it does not work with PS5 and there is also MQA support that I never liked, for what it is/was and what it does/did.

Handlebar conversion kit has turned up - Vitpilen to Svartpilen. Slightly annoying is the top yoke being plain* aluminium and the bottom is black anodised

How long would a coat of "Tough Black" last?

A years insurance for the MT10. Fully comp, pillion cover, protected NCD £254. Pretty happy with that. All arranged online.
With Bennetts this year. I paid more than double that last year with Bikesure because I changed bikes mid policy, had
me over a barrel so I wasn't going to re insure with them again even if my renewal was 10p. Last year I paid about £230
for a years cover for my MT09 and 1 month into that cover changed it to the MT10 and they lumped on another £500 odd
quid to swap mid policy. Got a text off of them this morning saying they would not be able to offer me a renewal until I
rang them. Took me all of 10 minutes to sort out next years. I will be calling Bikesure later to tell them to do one.

I was with BeMoto for a couple of years as their multi bike policy was good value, but anyone trying it on with a high renewal letter quote doesn't even get a call back from me. I just lapsed the policy (always tell them to do one for auto renewal) and tried Bennets.

Didn't start out great trying to fill in their online form, as they want you to call them if you tick the modifications box, even though it lets you still spend ages specifying the mods before asking you to ring.

Was going to dump them there and then, but took a chance knowing they at least use uk call centre staff.

Got a nice 100+ quid cheaper than BeMoto quote so just paid it all on the spot. Can't be arsed spreading the payment as it ends up more expensive and sometimes you end up dealing with sharky finance companies who want you to create another account and spam you.

£320 for two bikes, not grumbling as everyone is jumping on the opportunistic price rise bandwagon lately.

Just to update, called Bikesure to confirm I'd not be renewing and ask for proof of NCD and while on the phone got
the "Just out of interest, what price did you get elsewhere" question. So I told them and the guy said "Grab it!"
to which I replied I already did. he said my best quote for renewal with Bikesure was £1500 and my next
cheapest was £2500 What the hell is going on? This is with 8 years NCD by the way, clean licence etc.

Managed to find a new unused (albeit 7 year old but looks grand) 165/60 13" for my car for £15. Only had to drive up the road 15 miles to pick it up. The old tyre was 15 years old and there was finally a leakage coming through the join between sidewall and treaded portion. Currently have the spare on (also 15 years old actually) as that is the same size as the other side (155/60 13") and the 165/60 is the spare for now. I'm trying to phase out my 155/60's on the car gradually but that takes a long time on a car I do little mileage on.

I remove and fit car tyres myself with irons and such and lots of patience and I normally get them balanced for me around the corner for free or near enough. Old tyre:

Neighbour said one of my brake lights was out on my Peugeot 308. I check the cluster and notice that it has two bulbs for tail light but both bulbs are bilux but only one has a connection for brake filament.

So just swapped the two bulbs around. Now a full compliment again. Doesn't matter if the brake part filament is blown when there's no contact for it anyway!

I'm curious as to whether the designers did this out of convenience for them, or the that fact the operator of the vehicle essentially has two spare brake bulbs just being carried around willing but ultimately probably never being ready to take place of his blown compadre.

Bought some parts from the States for my Buick.

One of the three diodes on the alternator packed in thousands of miles ago, but somehow the alternator managed to give enough juice regardless. But finally bought a set, plus brushes as the old ones were pretty worn.

My first order early August was 'lost' somewhere by DHL and when I quieried them directly stating it was in suspension somewhere for weeks and didn't appear to have gone beyond local distribution centre (according to their tracking website) they said my tracking number isn't valid- and what do you know, entering it in on-line after receiving that e-mail, gave me a similar message- it didn't exist, anymore. I complained to vendor (RockAuto), they sent out another load of parts free of course including postage.

I got the replacement, and additionally the original was found and I also took receipt of that just yesterday.

RockAuto contact me (through automatic means) as they know that I now had two deliveries of identical items and gives me option to give back one of them (for them to pay postage) or for me to pay for items received excluding postage. I chose the former- to which they said in short, 'it isn't worth our time- keep them.'

If I had chosen to pay for it, I'm damn sure the website would have let me go through with it, of course.

But anyway- They're good like that when I query warrenty items etc. They don't want £5 worth of faulty boot strut to be posted back to them at their expense, for example - whether or not it was indeed faulty...

Still: I now have spares. Lovely.

Today, I bought a brand new XF 60mm macro lens for almost 50% off, the local store clears out their inventory. I've always wanted one and since I got a brand new unit for less money than what people ask for used ones, I said why not.

Thinking of it, in the past few weeks I've been doing and buying a lot of stuff just because why not. Last week I even did a 450km trip on my motorcycle, just because I had the time to do it.

The gear whoring continues, Another Alpinestars hoodie, Secktor Tech V1. This one was technically second hand
although clearly only worn maybe once if that. There were two silica gel packets in each pocket still. Not a mark or
dead bug on it. Spotless and completely as new. These jackets are still going for £200 on ebay. Sniped mine for
£73.00 It's more of a windproof effort than the one I had previously and fits me a little better as well. I'm very happy
with the price. I have a heated bodywarmer vest thingy which is quite easy to get underneath this top and it's supposed
to be windproof and water repellent. Just getting ready for those last few autumn rides before she goes away for the winter.

Replaced the old rain jacket...It was a Craghopper w/goretex. A decent jacket if a little on the weighty side.

New one is by Patagonia. The triolet w/goretex.

This one has pit-zips and 2 extra pockets....and something called a Recco reflector that they use to find lost nutters in snow.

If you're thinking of getting one be aware that it has a massive hood and the sleeves are long.

It was the triolet or the Arc'terx Beta or Mountain equipment Lhotse.
The triolet was much cheaper and just as hard wearing.

Yeah yeah it's just a rain coat but I spend a lot of my life outdoors (please let me back in love) and like any outdoor gear I'm a little bit nuts about it.

Oh I frickin' adore it..it's in a bright yellow and will be my best mate for years.
