You know those crusty cheese bits you steal and eat off a lasagne whilst preparing to serve it? Them.

I've finally got a lockup. I have a couple of weeks off and today I filled the van with shite from my garage (including my parts VFR) to take to the lockup, put all my tools away, threw the rubbish out and swept the floor. It had got to the point where there was so much stuff in there you couldn't move about to tidy up or put stuff away.

Tomorrow I'll sort my VFR spares into boxes and take those to the lockup then take another vanload of stuff from the shed (including two project bikes). Then I'll sort my enfield spares and put them in the shed so the only thing in the garage is tools and garage stuff. There may be another vanload of stuff to take over the weekend anmd I'll probably park the trials bike there too because it almost always needs to go places in the van anyway.

This will clear 3 or 4 motorbikes, a motorbike trailer and 3 bicycles worth of space, as well as most likely a full vanload of spare parts. Then I can start on my Minsk 125 project. Mrs stinkwheel will also be able to park her scooter and bicycle in the front of the garage instead of the bicycle being in the hall so I'll have a happy wife too.

* Grate a bunch of cheddar
* Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper
* Place a series of small hillocks of cheddar on the baking tray
* Put in hot oven for ten minutes to melt
* This *should* have formed small flat puddles of melted cheese
* Leave to cool and it will go crispy
* Put in airtight tin and use as treats or to float on top of soup

If it is one large puddle of melted cheese, it doesnt matter too much, just wait till it cools and then break up into suitable sized pieces.

Thumbs Up

Nope, that is exactly what it is - only sometimes I am organised enough to do domesticated-birdly-things and make some in advance, to save myself from having to scavenge off the cheese-on-toast grillpan Laughing

Got the front wheel bearings done on my car today ahead of the MoT next month. Had to spend ~£60 on a special VW extraction tool but I'm sure a garage would have charged me a good 3 or 4 hours of labour to do the job. Then there's the added bonus of knowing the work's been done properly Smile

I’m starting to have a bit of fun at the expense of the dumb arses on nextdoor.co.uk. Initially it was alright, then I realised most posts were about dead cats (“poor fur baby!”) and heartless hit-and-runs (like an injured cat is going to allow a stranger to scoop it up and take it to the vet for a chip-scan).

The latest is a woman cycling round the park with her kids at twilight who saw a man walking alone Police , shone a torch into his face and then circled back twice more to do the same. Cue, “Babe, that’s awful,” replies. The poor innocent bastard was probably stumbling around in the bushes waiting for his night vision to return.

I recommend Ste signs up.

I don't 'do' social media but I thought there might be some merit in this one - helping out neighbours, getting recommendatiosn for tradesmen etc.. Alas, its simply another forum for the socially inept and needy. I switched off about 6 months ago and hadn't thought about it until this post. Rolling Eyes

Oh god yes, the favourite on ours is - 'There's been another smash by the shops, police and ambulance there, hope everyones OK.' Rolling Eyes

Whereas they are probably thinking - 'Well actually, I hope their innards are spread down the road like spagetti and the foxes are chewing on their nuts when I go past to have a good nosey.'

Fuck meeeee, I've had a mad week of it:

Even though a meeting I organised* fucked up really badly, I hardly panicked and brushed it off like a pro.
The Estates Director wrote a snottogram later on, and saved me the bother Laughing

The mad Scientist is holed up in Naples too busy doing his chapter of Greys Anatomy (deadline!!) to do his letters and all the patients are going doolally (literally as well as figuratively) because medication shortage, all of which I am fielding off with blandly not-quite-apologetic emails.

Someone somewhere along the line** wants me to "keep an eye on" her boss, ya know - ("just ... look out for him" she says, in a motherly tone of voice whilst she is away on her holibobs in Ghana over Xmas).
I shall look forward to polishing her desk if I have to sit in it at any point in the duration. I shall wave at passers by. Grandly. I shall adjust my crown to a rakish angle.
There shall be florentines for afternoon tea, your worship!
Does this mean I can't wear my jeans to work?

Not sure how I am going to cope with the amount of stress this might produce, but I shall do my jolly-well best.

And I've got that madman coming over from Dalaman for Christmas. FFS, what *was* I thinking. I have to find a leg of lamb. Jesus wept.

Its suddenly got all busy and frantic!
I'm fucking loving it.

I'm also still trying to fit in my Krampus-hunting expedition but I've had to forgo Italy and stick to a vaguely Krauty country easier to get to from City Airport. Really must commit and book a flight.

*which I organise on a monthly basis, FFS Rolling Eyes
**higher up the line, infact almost at the top of the fuckin pile Laughing

Excellent, I'll go and have a look tomorrow, ta for that heads up - I almost never go to Sainsburys these days.

I'll have to defrost me freezer to get the damn thing in there Rolling Eyes but I should have done it weeks ago so now is as good a time as any I suppose.

Porn on TV. Wifie not allowed Laughing

I love my mancave.

I was lying in bed this morning, thinking how extremely boring and tedious my life was at the moment, and that I should pull my finger out and book my flight for the krampus-hunting trip, when the phone went and the indefatigable Mad Liz asked me if I was able to do an emergency foster for a rottweiler "puppy" (1 year old) in a family home that needed social-worker intervention.

So of course I said Yes.

And now my flat smells of dog farts and the cats are currently living in my bedroom, being gently introduced.

He's not been terribly well trained, but at least he does sit on command, walks reasonably well with only slight pulling, and is treat-driven so we're already halfway into the "Gimme Five" command.

He's eaten the lino in my living room, shaken the feather duster to death and tried to shag my bullock-shaped footstool within minutes of arriving Rolling Eyes

Not sure how long he will be here. The family are in court on Friday and the dog may be returned to them at that point, but if not, then I may have to put off my krampus-hunting trip for another year Laughing

And just like that *snaps fingers* Loki is gone again.
His family came to collect him this evening.
My cats, at least, are pleased.

What a wonderful adventure he was Wub
I was *just about* to start getting fond of him.
We nearly had the hang of Gimme Five Laughing

My boss talked me into taking a week off, if for no other reason than that I can't roll my holidays over any more.

So I am cooling my heels at home with the cats, not actually doing anything at all except thinking about booking a flight to Salzburg for next week, but still haven't got round to it.

Bit annoyed that its dropped to freezing on the one week I decide to have time off work, too cold to ride the bike: I won't ride if there's a risk of black ice.

Got too much time to think at home on me own, though.

Was gonna sleep-in but had to take myself out because the cleaner showed up (a day late) so I went to Canary Wharf for lunch and a look round the arty-farty light-sound-and-AI exhibition. It was alright but not 24 quids worth of alright Rolling Eyes

Managed to defrost my freezer just enough to fit in a leg of lamb and a bag of roast potatoes for Christmas dinner.

So that's most of the food shopping done. Just got to get a bit of cheese.

If the military type wants anything to drink, he'd better get himself something in duty-free or he'll have to go down the offie.

I've even bought him some crackers so he can have a silly hat Rolling Eyes

I was pleased to discover that Krampusse are not nearly as scary as I thought they would be. They are more like wookies with faces that look like something out of Alien.

I've dated worse Laughing
