Motorcycle insurance cbt vs full license

Just been talking to the guy who does Deliveroo on his scooty
and rode his YBR to Scotland and back on A roads.
I said I reckoned if he passed his test his insurance would/should be cheaper but I have no proof that this is the case

Am I right? wrong?

He would need get quotes on a price comparison website to see how much cheaper or more expensive the prices are for him with a full license. More expensive is entirely possible as he could take a pillion and go on motorways.

I didn't find business use added much at all to my insurance when I used the bike to go from site to site throughout the day, however I suspect delivery use is probably a whole different kettle of bad riding and stolen scooters.

I did a practice mod 1 & 2 on my 125 when waiting for a DAS slot, ended up passing and the insurance company refunded me £14 (£44 minus £30 'admin' charge, the grifting b'stards)

Edit: Also worth mentioning that some insurance companies may possibly use an A1 licence pass date as the date you obtained a 'full' licence (Peter James certainly did), as the A2 and A classes can be thought of as 'upgrades' to an A1 'full' licence.*

I went through the same...125 on CBT, then passed full A license.
Phoned insurance next day to let them know my license category had changed....eventually passed through to the UK centre on behalf of Carole Nash as that was eventually who it turned out had insured me. Thought they would
a) like to know
b) charge me a £25 "admin" fee
c) refund me diff. between cbt/full A for remaining months...

I suppose technically I'm not insured now on that bike as my license class doesnt match, although my give a fuck meter is also far down as lord knows I tried to change it

Mine was £300 last year on my 125cc w/ CBT and is £300 this year on my Tracer 700 w/ full licence.

Hmmm...so its complicated
Any positives you get for passing tests/proving competence may be countered by having a bigger, more expensive bike although DaddyStu seem to have done reasonably well by paying the same but for a much bigger bike.

His occupation as a delivery driver probably wont help
and IIRC from what he tells me, he pays more per month
just for delivery insurance than I do a year for my scoot

he's also racked up 9 points for speeding
it must be difficult not to doing that job especially in so many 20mph areas when you're clocking up close to 30,000 or more a year
