Oooooh !!! Colored lights, eyeballs, and a hood ornament! I'm swooning. But what are those knobs on the windscreen for? Dare I ask? Why are there only four? Looks like maybe somebody used one for something. ____________________ History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of men - BOC |

A little experiment today:
https://i.imgur.com/AsVoC7P.jpg
I ordered the cheapest shite I could find on eBay - £8 a pair! - round ones (pictured in a previous post) and these diamond ones. The round ones interfere in too many places, so did the diamond ones... but disassembling and reversing the bracket did the trick.
Main adjustment is rotation of the handlebar mount and rotation of the mirror arm plus a friction ball-joint for fine adjustment. The view is perfect with a normal riding position unless I either drop and tuck my elbows or eat a large quantity of pies Slight allowances need to be made to avoid interfering with the starter switch (horn on the clutch side) and the tank. (This mirror position would interfere with the tank bag mount on the Svartpilen though.)
Obviously the new mirror is crap quality but I now know what style of decent mirror to buy so I can junk the bat-wing mirrors. I can also put back the original bar-end weights ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Well that was a bust. I tried getting a better version of the teardrop mirrors but people seem to have funny ideas about what the word "convex" means Regardless if you prefer OEM style over bar-end I would say convex mirrors are essential on a motorcycle
And even if you do find a convex mirror how convex is it? For example, my old bar-end mirrors are more convex than the round eBay specials. However, as the latter are larger the overall picture seen is the same. I shall have another go at finding a good position for them. ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Dropped the eldest granddaughter to a party so a couple of hours to kill. All the mirrors out, all the angles. Turns out the absolute best rear view, even over the OEM mirrors, is the original round bar-end mirrors
The under-bar idea is nice but the mirrors aren't far enough over to be anything but a blind spot check. If the arms were longer you'd effectively have the same thing as OEM but flipped and then the mirrors would clash with the funky Husky tank plastics. ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |
