I use flexothane at work and it's great, you can wash yourself down with a pressure washer or volume washer in it.
As above, it's stretchy and the lined stuff has a decent wicking effect. I also wouldn't use the lined stuff on the bike because it will also tend to wick water that gets in round the edges further in.
Another tip on the bike is putting some cheap gaiters on. A lot of the time when you get wet feet the water has run up the boot under your trousers then soaked down your socks. Gaiters stop this. I'm happy my boots are waterproof, I can wade into a stream in them, my trousers likewise. My feet stay dry on my VFR but get wet on my enfield. I put this down to the fact that my legs are facing backwards on the sprotsbike and are vertical on the enfield so water and particularly road spray can push up the outside of the boot. Gaiters are very effective in this situation. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

In decades of riding, I've never found anything that kept me properly dry in really bad weather... the one single piece of riding equipment that came closest was this:

I'm convinced it's only vanity that stopped them catching on; for riding to work in all weathers it was great, you didn't need to worry about your laptop etc. getting piss wet through either, as it all went in that massive boot.
These days, if it rains I take the car. |
