My audio set up is quite convoluted due to having a single keyboard/mouse/monitor combo connected to my works and personal PCs. At the moment USB, DisplayPort and audio are routed through a KVM switch but the audio has to go through ground loop isolators which knocks a good few dBs off the output. To compensate I added a desktop headphone valve amp but there's a lot of faffing about to balance the levels to avoid distortion in the chain on two PCs with completely different sound cards.

While not exactly the best desktop DAC in the world (what do you expect for £50) it does do both headphone and microphone which I need for Zoom meetings. According to reviews, if you set the silly bass & treble knobs to 3 o'clock you should get reasonable flat output.

Better audio quality would be nice but TBH I'm more interested in how practical such a setup is. I can always drop in a replacement DAC later.

Audio nightmare.
My Sony BT Speaker had the Audio-acity to shit-its-sel' mid-hitch.
Now I am unarmed and being bombarded by the electrician's shite moozak blasting through the adjoining wall of the room.
Previously I could leave my speaker playing The Alexander Brothers Greatest Scottish Hits, Jimmy Shand Live in Vancouver etc. to drown out the Latin and 70's Disko moozak next-door.
I have now purchased a new 'special lithium cell' for the speaker. £20 ebay original OEM (they say).
The battery is buried in the middle of the speaker too.
Sony, FFS don't yous go and make servicing your shit easy. Rolling Eyes

Nice, I'll add it to the list Thumbs Up

I was also eyeballing the Fulla (Schiit) which sounds like the most epic troll in the DAC world Laughing

For the more slender among us..

https://www.mandp.co.uk/products/spada-rigger-selvedge-jeans-ch00300?p_colour=Blue

https://d3hzv86xqj829d.cloudfront.net/images/presets/product_page_normal/3799/I/173/099/0/spada-rigger-selvedge-mens.jpg

15 quid shipped! FYI Size L is a snug 32" waist. Not tight, but snug.
this from a 174cm sub-11st chap, so more 'medium' in my book.

Arrived in hours, heavy and well made knee armour supplied.

Long, probably about 34" I'd say, but no bad thing for a bike, I will probably just fold them up. The last pair of bike jeans I had turned up professionally only to realise later they were too short and a bit drafty when mounted Rolling Eyes

Thanks, I've forwarded the link onto a few people Thumbs Up

I'd buy some myself but I already have a neglected pair of jeans. Neglected as I bought those funky lightweight CE armours and they totally don't work for kneepads. However, you have prompted me to order some new, less flexible inserts so I'll be all set for the summer Smile

Sadly no, which leads me to think slender bikers are perhaps in a minority.

I've been on a diet to lose enough weight to enable my erse to squeeze into a set of Dainese leather trousers.

Shouldn't be long now.
Last I tried them on was when Ducati Glasgow were in GWR.

Embarassed

I skip leg day so waist to fit would cause Flappy Legs in a wind.

New car.
Not bought exactly but leased with the option to purchase at half retail price.
I quite like it, I'll give it a few months of driving but I think I'm gonna buy it.

Astra GS ST.
It'll quickly be poo pooed and ridiculed by the 'should have bought a car that achieves the speed of light in 2.9 seconds and makes you look cool' brigade, as is the BCF way but I like it.

Fired up my new desktop DAC today...

https://i.giphy.com/pynZagVcYxVUk.webp

Something like The Prodigy - Warrior's Dance has fair amount of detail in the bassline that can easily get overwhelmed. Yello - Oh Yeah is a bit more fun for a sound test Smile

In case you're wondering what all the fuss is about one of the clear advantages is having your headphones or amp as close to the sound source as possible and outside of a noisy (with regards to EMF) PC case. There's a tiny amount of latency introduced transferring audio data over USB but compared to latency just running stuff through Windows' audio subsystem it's neither here nor there.

A new expresso machine.

Sage, Duo Temp Pro.

Old Tech but still selling strong.

I already have a very good/spensive grinder, so I only needed a new espresso machine. Coz my auld non-pump, Big-W special final put its hands up. I knew that day was near.

I don't want a Bean 2 Cup coz I think the coffee is shite.
And I like fresh beans and swap from farm to farm, cuntry to cuntry through the day/week.
So a hopper full of a single origin ain't gunna cut it for me.

The price range for the machine is crazy. I paid Currys £299. But the same beast sells for £400+ on other sites.

Maybe the more expensive sites are not interested in selling that machine.
