Algae will not grow without some ingredients.
Water sunlight/light and nutrient. Nitrogen is a big part of its photosynthesis.

Like the triangle of fire.
Oxygen, Fuel and Heat.

Remove/exclude one part and it cannot be supported.

Algae Remove water, light or Nitrogen.

If the vehicle is to be parked for a whilst a car cover will stop Algae growing.

Also it depends on how the vehicle is parked. Angle of Dnagle can allow water to collect in places that get plenty of sunlight.
So some cars may be worsererer than others depending on their design.

My aged Vauxhall Zafira has a small mossy forest growing on the rear window rubbers. I did try scraping it off once and it snatched my cloth with little mossy arms and gave me a beatdown.

I've left it alone ever since and it leaves me alone.
