OK so new XJ coils from Yellow Square arrive.. but some concerns.

mounting holes are 90mm not 100mm (but could be adapted ) and Primary impedance is 3.9 Ohm whereas factory spec demand 2.5 Ohms,
Supplier is suggesting this higher value won't damage the TCI (Ignitor) box and produces a better spark (secondary is also higher at 15KOhms vs 11KOhms factory.

My knowledge in this area is poor - what do the great BCF minds think?

Broadly speaking probably be ok.

0.6 ohms higher suggests less primary current
and the higher secondary suggests more windings/higher output voltage
but
Drilling down into ignition function can get pretty complex
even when you have all the circuit details to hand which we don't

Ultimately it comes down to whether it works well and reliably or not
so it's a case of try it and find out

Ta muchly

Ill return teh ones I have for ones that actually fit (100mm mounts) and appaer to have a closer [to spec] primary res of 3.0 Ohms. £20 quid more but worth it I think .
