Got a cheese selection from my daughter for father's day and it contained a cheese I'd never heard of before:

Cornish Yarg.

By Christ, it's tasty. If you like cheese, you gotta get some of this and try it. I now have to find a regular supplier coz I can see it becoming a staple.

Gears definitely oiled!

I went to a conference today about improving healthcare for the Armed Forces community which was really interesting. Did a bit of networking.

You know you've found your people when you find yourself discussing the hidden merits of Monty Don over lunch with like-minded ladies Laughing

Laughing at the football world, they wanted VAR and now they’ve got it it’s disallowing goals so it’s somehow still unfair. Laughing

This morning...

"Granddad, where's Nanny?"

She's still asleep.

"Why?"

When people get older they sleep at different times.

"But Granddad, you're old and you're awake."

1. Speed awareness course wasn't shit.
2. After a week off work on 'holiday' we've finished fitting just over 100metres of new fascia boards around the house.
3. None of the felt roof split when we lifted it up to get the old boards out from under it.
4. We found that Ware Recycling Centre is soo much nicer than the one in Stevenage - disposing of the old crap was just easy and the staff are actually pleasant.

Gears quite nicely oiled.

Direct line phoned with my payout for writing the Jag off. Waiting for something dismal and they came back with 9 grand. You could have knocked me down with a feather. Salvage company coming to take the Jag on Wednesday Crying or Very sad

As much as I hate insurance I have to say that this smash has been as painless administratively as I could have ever expected. Of course there will be payback time when I come to get new insurance but that was a given anyway.

Why's your insurance paying out? Was it a hit and run?

The whole point of fully comp is they pay out and then have the hassle of recovering their losses from the other.party.

So polarbear makes a claim, the other side pay out (after DirectLine put the thumb screws on them) but PB is still left with hiked premiums for the next decade?

This is where insurance doesn't make any sense to me. If you have a policy and yet never make a claim (instead claiming off the other party's insurance) you still need to report it and insurers will go "you bad man, you make claim!" Sad

I totally agree. Lorry hit me up the arse at a roundabout. Reg and lorrys buisness details taken but even though there is no fault on my side, as Nobby says, it's a given premiums go up. They have waived my excess as it isn't my fault which is one decent thing.

the fact you can be completely not at fault and yet still be worse off because of it just proves than insurance is an extortion racket.

15+ years ago I was side swiped in a car by a german lorry (LHD) it was so obviously his fault I never informed my insurers and badgered his daily until tehy had it repaired... BUT aparently I should have informed my insurer even though they had no need to get involved..

..nothing bad happened but I guess these days it could be different.

I did check my insurance and it said they must be informed of any accident I am involved with.

I presume that is so they don't get some counter claim out of the blue that they are unaware of, or, they just want an excuse to hike my premiums. Rolling Eyes

On the phone with "Microsoft Technical Support" about a very pressing matter: hackers have got into my computer, oh noes!

Kept 'em going for 27mins, chewed through three "technical advisers" and made the last guy rage-quit Laughing

Beaulieu superbike day.

weather was the usual English summer time, but the turn out was very good. probably around 300 bikes.

and in typical English fashion, the weather once the event came to an end has turned warm and sunny Rolling Eyes

Watching the football...

The chant goes up: "No surrender! Nor surrender! No surrender to the IRA!"

How quaint Smile

It rained all day, we dug fence holes through concrete and bricks.

We worked hard and finished the job in time to watch the penalty shootout. Had ibuprofen with our curry. Slept like angels.

Was good working with my old mucker again.
