.. stopped working last night with a graunch. It felt like soemething was jammed-up so I assumed belt and had it apart..

.. belt though was intact so I removed it and noticed the motor (small pulley) was in places hard to turn.. It freed up so I re-assembled and it worked ok and sounded ok for about 10 yards then jammed again.. Rolling Eyes
I had it apart again and a small pice of what looks a bit like a bearing race fell out (see pic) and the motor now turns freely again , quite smooth too. Behind the blade (big)pulley there appears to a centrifugal brake
which I guees is there to stop the blade whizzing around after the power is disconnected - I couldn't tell if this is also jamming.

So I intend to put it back again and remove the brake gubbins - if it jams again I'm guessing it is a motor bearing.. but does anyone know how to pull the lower pulley off these or is it a case of skip it and buy new.?

Hmm some youtubing revealed that the drive pulley is absolute c*nt to get off.. A man in Czech(?) made this ingenious puller however..

another chap got into the bearing from the other side and relubed it which I guess is a short term solution at best..

The mower is 6 years old Ryobi and the brushes are barely worn..this is a prime example of where stuff could be easily repairable with simple DFR principles in place. Mad
