An old man’s rant but I’m watching the Euros and wondering why it’s so slow and boring. It’s mostly punting the ball laterally between defenders, or within triangles where hardly anyone moves. No one is out of breath yet they all look lacking in energy. I wonder if those fashionable young sportsmen spend more time on building physique than stamina. Now I’m watching soccer matches from the ‘70s on YouTube to compare*, and I like the ‘Route 1’ approach, ie. push forward, run at the opposition, and a hoof up front followed by a scramble is all right.

*Fair enough, only the exciting games make it to YouTube.

Ironed a shirt this morning, got home at 6pm and found I’d left the iron on. No harm done, but a stupid mistake.

My current iron goes to standby if not moved for a while but previous ones were plugged into a smart plug with a schedule set to turn it off after my go to work time

Thumbs Up
The timer plug is a good idea, and I’m sure I’ve got one somewhere, never used.

When I went upstairs I could smell that dry iron smell and I knew what it was straight away.

Theoretically, a laptop bag and a crisply ironed shirt makes my neighbours think I’m a high-powered executive instead of the crumpled troglodyte I really am. Laughing
