Just reading the press releases (no danger of any journalism with the BBC) at the very least this kid's an idiot. "I missed my bus so I'll go on a 10hr hike with no water and a phone with a flat battery." Go back to town, get some breakfast, get the next bus.

Google maps rates it as at least 11hrs starting at sea level and ending up 1200 metres in elevation

Is this gonna be another one of these "bring home my angle!" scenarios?
