Thing is, it might be right so I wouldn't be running the engine with an oil light on until I'd checked.
They usually measure oil pressure, not oil level on most (but not all) motorbikes which is why it comes on with the ignition then goes off after starting. Does it have a sight glass? Look in that and press the starter, the oil level should drop within a few seconds if the pump's picking it up. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. +1 check you have oil pressure or its fooked
If you're lucky, the oil light doubles as something else,
a bloody stupid idea but you never know.
I do recall some guys US spec bike had the oil light double up as
a bulb failure indicator which caused a few stained underpants until
it was realised.
