some 1 please tell my why in this technical age carnt they invent a tire with decent grip in the wet!

just went sliding in to the back of a car at some lights lucky enought no damage to anything just about slowed right the way down when i hit the car!

I hit a stationary van in the wet because of the tyres on my scooter. They were so bad, i nearly always used to run off them and when taking corners flat out you could feel the back moving.

You got away lucky there.

Err, well if you had not been going to fast you would not have slid! And going round corners flat out in the wet, course the back is going to slide. You might want to re-think your riding style rather than blaming the rubber.

Why am i getting slated for going round corners at 40. The speed limits on some of the roads were NL so whats the problem. I was just saying sometimes the back used to slide abit, i bet its happend to just about everyone else here.

Nope sorry, can't think of one time I've said to myself "bastard tyres, they made me do that". I tend to think more along the lines of "wooah that was lucky, don't push your luck, take it easy".

It's all down to you, don't blame everything else. If you was leaving a decent gap, then you should have had plenty of space to slow down. If you didn't have plenty of space, then it wasn't a decent gap.

Don't forget that if it has just been raining after a long dry spell, the roads will be much more slippy. The dust gets turned to a manky greasy mud with the rain, and all the crap which had settled into the road gets washed up to the surface again.

Take it easy, double your braking distance in the wet, and more if it has not rained for a long time.

Oh and don't forget that scooter tyres are like the size of wheel barrow wheels so not a lot of grip anyway!
