Anyway. How much should a set cost, and can I trust getting a "used" set?

It shouldn't be too expensive, but buy new. Buying a used one is dumb as it's a rubber part that will perish and shrink over time. On Fowlers they are £13.50 each and you need 6 of em, making a parts total of £81. Fowlers are often on the pricy side though.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

You could always do it the blogger way.

Chop up an old number plate and insert into the cush drive to fill the gaps.

lol heck ill just put some expanding foam in there......
Well this evening got the wheel off... Cush is perfectly fine.
Sooooooo *shrug* ether the chain just turned to cheese on the 250 mile trip last week and just stretched, or internal bushings on the chain collapsed. (it was due replacing tbh) or the rear wheel slipped and added slack...

Well sorting it out now and the cause could be a lot worse.

They corrodes, number plates don't.

Expanding foam compresses, number plates don't.

It's been a much used fix for many bikes over many years, I'm not actually joking. A used number plate~VS~ a lot more money for new drive rubbers on a low mileage bike so they will also fail early.

I drink stella. It comes in ali cans. Ali expands when it corrodes which is advantageous in that usage.

In addition most people don't have access to surplus number plates. I have a ready supply of empty stella cans.

Except when you want to remove the sprocket carrier and it's stuck in place due to the corrosion expansion.
