That maybe your a bit.. obsessed with bikes?/Your bike?

Sat here at my computer after trying to sleep for a while and giving up, can't get the thought of my bike in the garage needing to be put back together after doing some involved servicing (valve clarences bleh, what a pain! worth it though*) couple of other things i need to do first though, things i can't do without going to the motor shop in the morning...

And now i'm sat wide awake.. its always the same when somethings not working on it or needs attention...

All very wrong, has anyone else lost sleep from bike withdrawal symptoms?

*Another thing, really quite enjoy spannering now, after the initial terror now i'm used to it its good fun and really oddly satisfying, gawd knows how much i'd have been charged for what i was doing today Shocked (in between working)

Funny you should say that.....

In bed last night then something pops into my head so I have to get up and write it down so I don't forget to do it! Thats been me all week as thursday/friday gets closer and time to re-build my bike. Thats all I've thought about for 2 weeks, my bike. If its not buying bits and fixing bits I'm talking about bikes....

My mate must be sick of the site of me. Not left him alone for help the last few weeks!

Getting obsessive, and dear ££££££ Laughing

At one time in my life like when I was a spotty yoof obsession would of been a good word, but now I have grown up and become half a crust I actually find bikes, almost boring Surprised

Not sure if boring was the correct term, I drive 4 wheels all day for work and cover many miles and the thought of setting out on a bike in my time to tackle cars, police, shit roads and all the rest of the rubbish just doesn't appeal much Sad

I seem to prefer bikes and spanners now, bikes get bought to me so I lock myself in my nice warm garage and play.

Yes i'm a weirdo too. I had a dream I got my Bandit out whilst my Dad was at work yesterday and I rode it around for a little bit and that I got majorly annoyed with my 33BHP because it felt no faster than my ped. What a weird dream.

Also I am bit obsessed cause I haven't bought any normal clothes for about 6 months now...all money pumped into bike. Hopefully soon this should change. Smile

Several points from that, after a day or two it wont feel faster. The cbr doesnt feel fast until you're banking over at 140, simply because i dont do that often.

Also you think a 50cc was expensive Shocked Restricted 600's eat petrol mate.

Generalisation.

I've had my CBR for over two years now and it still feels fast. All depends what you do with it and how often. If I rode it fast every day, I probably would be bored of it. But I drive a car every day.

Some people get bored of things more quickly than others, it's like people insisting that folk'll be bored of a 400 within six weeks, how the hell do they know? I know people who've had their 400 for years and still get shedloads of fun out of it.

Not having a go, just a personal gripe. Smile

Probably agreed, just nothing the cbr does scares me, apart from VERY fast cornering, because i rarely do it. Its getting worrying tbh.

I mean i go slow when im in 30's, and thats about it. Oh well, ill make a concerted effort today not to speed by more then the 10% + 4 rule.

But as a rule, everyone gets bored of the power very quickly, if you use it daily. If you really want to feel the power again, have a pint first. That works well.

I'm obsessed with two things in life. Bikes and computers. If Im not on one I'm on the other. The rest of the stuff in life can go to hell for all I'm bothered as long as I can keep riding and always have a good puter. Unfortunately that means I need to make money so keeping a well paid job also has to be a priority.
I'm the happiest now that I've ever been because I came to the realisation that getting worked up about all the other shit in life was a waste of time. So I made some dramatic changes

The wife had to go coz we just weren't happy with each other.
The country pile had to go coz it was hard work and costing a fortune to keep a 14 roomed house with only me and my daughter in it. I bought nice cheap little gaff with no garden (hate gardening) and got rid of the mortgage. Went from shift work to days so my weekends are now free.

The end result was I now have more spare cash and more time to enjoy my obsessions Very Happy

So yeah completely obsessed... and never happier. Funny thing is that people who know me think I must be devastated to lose all the things I had before.

I was nice and normal.

My bike was simply a cheap means of getting to work and back, then one day a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across a bike forum while trying to find a part for my bike.

Now i get no work done at my desk, i spend all my time posting. I'm spending a lot of time trying to explain to the missus why my bike needs to be replaced quickly with something a hell of a lot bigger.

Don't think she's buying it.

And I've still not found the part I'm after!

Yup but I don't worry about it, my gf and mum do that for me.

I still find my 400 fun but it doesn't do it for me anymore.
I thought my speedo was broken since 100mph just doesn't feel that fast anymore. All relative I guess (Country roads/ motorways)

Talking about dreams with bikes in - Dreamt that I had nasty flat spots all over the range and only ran well at 14krpm. Woke up in a foul mood until I tried the bike and it was fine Rolling Eyes .

I was just thinking this earlier. It's insane how obsessed I am by bikes right now. My entire life's basically geared around bikes and all I can think about is finishing college so I'll be able to afford a shiny 600.

Expensive addiction, too.

To be honest....I am obsessed with bikes but I don't think it's expensive/too much money. As you've got soemthing to show for it. Something physical. Which is why I never really get wasted. Prefer to spend my money on stuff that isn't just a memory. A hazed one at that Wink

If I wasn't into bikes, I'd only waste my money on other shit that I wouldn't need. Or put it towards a mortgage. Money is simply an object you should get rid of. One way or another Thumbs Up

And should you get happiness out of dispensing your cash, then it's a bonus.

I get that.

Got my 143hp zx9 and it never really 'scared' me, which was disapointing. Now have a 53hp rs for road fun Smile.
