V5 Bike Registration

Hello.

I have a 1993 motorbike, on a K plate. However, the registration date on the V5 is 1999. How can this be? Bike is not an import.

Maybe it wasn't registered until 1999 and as DVLA now give a plate commensurate to the year of manufacture....
