Maybe a bit tin foil hattish but I wonder if Israel is trying to push for an all out war with certainly Iran. Trying to get them to do something that gives them the excuse they need. If it happens they get to destroy Iranian nuclear plants once and for all and it would drag America in on their side whoever is in power.

To some extent I can see their point. Bomb their enemies back to the dark ages and they won't have to worry about them for some generations to come. Otherwise they will always be looking over their shoulder for the next Hamas style attack.

We're told the Iranian people are just waiting to be saved. Is this the same sort propaganda Putin was fed about how welcoming the Ukrainian people would be after freeing them from the Nazi dictatorship?

I've met a few Iranians (prior to the Invasions of the Sea Peoples) and they're usually quite colourful characters, as if after escaping they're over compensating somewhat. They also refer to themselves as "Persian" to create even more distance.

The important thing would be who frees them. Anyone from the Middle East - including Israel - would just get them back on their feet and leave them to it. Nato, on the other hand, would just repeat the "hand in the cookie jar" errors of Afghanistan. Fat government contracts issued to US companies for rebuilding and a load of nonsense about queers and equality. Expect the country to fall back to religious extremism once the Americans leave.
