Does anyone still watch it, out of interest?

Yep, i still watch it (not seen the first episode of the new serties yet, though do have it recoreded)

To be fair, i watch most programs Henry Cole does (Junk & Disorderly, Shed & Buried, Find it Fix it Flog/Drive it etc)

One of the only (if not the only) motorcycling show on TV these days

Yeah, as presnters go HC isn't the worst, and theres a chance you might learn somethng new and useful from Alan Millyard.

A whoe day with HC might prove tiresome but there's a lot worse out there an he mostlt 'gets' biking from the old buffers viewpoint.

I do, and I saw this theatre tour at Harpenden too which was pretty good; interesting and entertaining. Steve Parrish was with him, and most of the team made an appearance (including Jellybean).

I like Henry Cole when he does his other stuff, but for some reason I just can't get him on the bike show.

I watch it, but I won't say I'm enthusiastic about it. I don’t like Cole's presenting style or the constant 'coming up', 'after the break' and 'previously' style of production. Oh and the music annoys me. Why just because we ride motorcycles why do they assume we want to hear hard rock? However, beggars can’t be choosers and it’s all we have on mainstream TV.

He’s a wealthy fella but the finances are more honest than Wheeler Dealers for example, where the cost of a full-time professionally-equipped workshop doesn’t even factor into the “profit”.

Jeez. Even Brewer gets annoyed at answering this. It's supposed to represent what an enthusiastic amateur mechanic can do. I have pretty much all the gear that Ed et al have, and they often farm out complex work such as gearbox rebuilds and resprays.

The idea behind it is "You too can own a classic car of your dreams and still be up on the deal afterwards"

It's not supposed to represent buying a car and then paying a mechanic to fix it...

Yes I agree to a certain extent, except he did get pretty badly burned recently when actually working on one of his cars. I think he does a bit of spannering, even if he has a team of staff to look after his fleet.

How many enthusiastic amateurs have a lift?

After 11 years I'm tired of explaining labour costs on the show..almost every hour! Edd plays the role of a home mechanic, anything that's done outside the shop we always factor the costs, we split the profits we make or reinvest into more cars. We don't really care about the profit..it's nice...but we are more interested in saving cars. Most of what we do is achievable with a good set of tools, guts and time.

Fine, and I enjoyed the programme, but the profit was a hyped element of the show.

99% of what they do on the show could be done by a home mechanic with a set of £15 axle stands. A lift just makes things easier

Having a large dry workshop space with enough room to move is a big help Smile

your average enthusiastic amateur doesn't need to film the underside of the car. That lift would enable them to do everything they do on the show without too much effort. If they really *need* a ramp then there are places where you can rent workshop space with a ramp to complete the work if required.

That's where I quite like MCM and Samcrac. They often make a point of doing the work on ramps and axle stands.

As the boss of Mathewsons auction house on TV’s Bangers & Cash says, you don’t make a profit buying, renovating and selling classic vehicles. But Mike Brewer always did, supposedly. It’s a bit like the Antiques Roadtrip deal where they never factor in the auction house fees.

I’ve gotta stop watching all that stuff.

Antiques Road Trip they do factor in the auction house fees. It's Bargain Hunt they don't.

Yes, I'm a sad bugger as well. Laughing

Why? I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but a bell end? I can take or leave him but he's not a bad presenter.
