Good Morning All
Just a simple one this time, I think!
The Carb intake manifold boots on my 2002 Suzuki gsx750f don't appear to be catered for by ALL of the suppliers with the exception of Fowlers Suzuki Parts.
According to Fowlers the boots are the same on all bikes from 1998 to 2003 HOWEVER, this isn't confirmed with a single on line supplier of pattern units who, to every single one, indicate that the only available units are from 1990 to 1998. However, Fowlers indicate that pre 1998 units are different. So, can anyone out there please confirm or otherwise the suitability of the on line products to my 2002 GSX750f?
Thank You in anticipation.
Steven.
Example the typical, often repeated and not individual postings.

Come on suppliers, don't follow the crowd, provide an individual advert rather than copy/pasting everyone else's and then provide the CORRECT information.PLEASE.

Slightly confused by your post, but Fowler’s do appear to have the two parts you want in stock for years 1998-2003.

Search by part numbers. Suzuki confirms-

The parts for the earlier model are different and are not in stock.

Hi

Thank You for your response.
The confusion is in the advertisements for new after market boots. Research indicates that the change of part number was at the end of 1996 and that the numbers for currently available boots are indeed compatible with the engines fitted to fully faired GSX750f models 19988 to 2002 inclusive. It is hard to believe that a complete range of motorcycles has had such a relevant and replaceable part dropped from the catalogue. I agree that Fowlers have them in stock, but at what price per unit?
I will continue to explore this and/if I can get a definitive product code and price for an aftermarket unit I will post in the forum. Further research has shown that this is a common question for post 1998 Suzuki GSX750f owners.
Kind Regards
Steven

£55.72 or £51.98 each depending on whether they are inner or outer ones, as per the link provided above...

I’m still not sure what the complaint is about. You’ve got a 2002 bike for which OE spares are still available. I guess Suzuki will have made vast numbers back in the day and it’s unlikely they’ve made fresh batches since, so stocks are dwindling.

The earlier model from 1989-1996 (with different carb to airbox manifolds) is less fortunate, all the original rubbers were sold, but that made it viable for aftermarket suppliers to step in. You might expect the same thing to happen with the 1998-2002 bikes later.

Ah, you were you hoping the aftermarket, cheap but wrong parts would fit. Without actually trying for size, all the evidence suggests they won’t. Buy OE now or wait a couple of years for an aftermarket supplier to make some.

Pattern parts are shit these days. Intake rubbers need to be a perfect fit, chasing down problems with them is difficult.

You have OE parts available, so get them. They will work.

If your existing ones are merely hard, but not cracked or split, soak them in a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and wintergreen oil overnight. They will feel like new afterwards.

the part number on the inlet rubbers is visible on the face that the carbs mount to. Take your carbs off, read the numbers from the rubbers you have (dont forget inner and outer are different parts) then buy new rubbers with those numbers.

Worth googling the actual number you read off your carbs as there might be other bikes that use the same rubbers, this might open up a cheaper point of purchase for the genuine and correct parts.
