Edit, that is the definition of a fuck around and find out motorcycle. I still have scars from a 70cc monkeybike that are worse than some of my bigger motorbike crashes on large CC stuff cause its so easy to just completely disrespect it and then Karma pops by to say hello.

A 500cc Piaggio scooter engine means a nice big hole in the middle where you'd expect to see an engine. It's described as a sprint/drag bike... well, that might be some of the slowest drag action you've ever seen as IIRC that motor makes about 40BHP.

The paucity of the power output, on the other hand, could save you from an embarrassing situation when something with more bollocks would very likely snap that piss-poor push iron frame in half.

This massive pile of elephant wank could be yours for just £1200.

Drag scooters are a thing. You can really poke the motors quite heavily and if you can get the variator set up well, they go like a bat out of hell.

They're getting 14s standing quarters out of Lambrettas in straightliners.

I don't think the tensioner serves any useful purpose other than as a styling cue because the hardtail has long enough fork-ends to correctly tension the chain. Might reduce intrusive chain snatch when you get on and off the power but it's not mechanically necessary.

The engine is a stressed member, there are frame plates on the lower frame rail which attach to the engine with two long M8 bolts that go right through the engine (you can see it better on the right side view). There is also a vertical seat tube which bolts into the crankcases at the top rear of the engine. Pretty sure the one you're looking at is holding the mounting plate for a samrat kick-stand to the frame.

In any case, it's more secure than what holds a standard iron barrel bullet together. A single M8 bolt through the bottom of the engine:

Then two M8 bolts on triangular plates which attach to the gearbox, which in turn is bolted to the back of the engine (with 4 x 3/8" BSC studs).
