Mine has been under a tarp for about the last 26 years in the back garden Shocked

How about a Yam XS400, mine had no damping on the forks, going round bend, bouncing up and down all over the place, I even added to the bounce because I though it was great fun.

Picking on Honda again How about the CJ250T ? or the CB250RS

I agree about the CJ, Honda took a CB250G5 and made it worse, but the CB250RS was a cracking little bike.

Yes - that is broadly acknowledged - several have had an (XBR?) 500 motor transplanted into them with startling effect so I understand.

I'm also wondering about the GS850. Just makes it into the 70s by a hair.

I would say that any GS from 750 up at least has the benefit of a reasonable amount of performance (for it's time) but the GS550, now we're talking!

The absolute epitome of the UJM, could do anything, but not especially well - anaemic performance, uninspiring handling and barely adequate brakes, get a really early one and factor in spoked wheels for added cornering sketchiness.

The only thing they had going for them was the reliability of night following day, but that also robbed them of any chance of anything that could be called character.

Of all the bikes I've owned, including Superdreams, I would be quite happy to never chuck my leg over a GS550 ever again.
