Are modern cars safer? I’m not sure I believe the RAC’s survey numbers but it’s true that some modern cars have excessively bright headlights. The driver can see, but you can’t.

Similarly, thick roof pillars protect the occupants from injuries but simultaneously make it more likely they’ll hit something due to reduced visibility. Ironically, it might be why 20mph limits are felt necessary.
The industry needs to look at indicator visibility too. The Peugeot 2008 SUVs for example seem to have inadequate (small) rear indicators hidden amongst all the brake lights.
As for the need for cup holders, I despair. Driving and hot drinks in paper cups should not mix! |

Yes I have noticed there is a trend of late to have tiny indicator/brake lights now that they are LED. They almost seem like afterthought additions. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11
