Ok lets just pretend they weren't giving the AstraZeneca vaccine to young people, who were dying... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2g921rd2lo before they thought shit and restricted it to over 40s.

Our Lisa would still be alive if she was in Germany... Germany will limit AstraZeneca vaccine to people over 60

'The move follows reports of rare blood clots in the brains of 31 people following the first dose since the shots started being administered in the country.'

Getting back to Starmer. He's done OK so far on the face of it. He seems to have pulled the Europeans together without totally alienating Trump.

Still recon it's going to be an excuse to hype up taxes though.

Maybe that's what Trump needs though. If I had to deal with someone who behaved like he does (ie a petulant, attention-seeking child), I'd totally blank them until they started behaving like a normal human being.

Admittedly, completely ignoring America for the next 4 years is a bit of an ask but since you can't make him stand in the corner facing the wall for 1 minute for every year of his age (which clearly should have been done a lot more frequently when he was a child). I don't see many better options.

Tarriffs? FIne, we'll do the same, see how far it gets you. Withdraw support for Ukraine. Fine, but you have no seat at the table or say in what goes on. Close the Canadian border? Fine, works both ways, enjoy going to Alaska by boat.

Read what you have just written my friend.

You can't treat the worlds most powerful country's leader as you would a bad tempered poodle as much as you want. I actually believe Trump could prove the making of the European states. Look after yourselves as no one else will. Something we should have learnt and implemented donkeys years ago.

Trump is doing exactly what he said he would. The thing is no one thought he would go through with it (that's if he ever got reelected). As much as he's a Boris Buffoon character and now it's happening a lot of Americans don't want they tax dollars spent shoreing up Europe. No one is going to drop a nuke on Washington but they might well on London. Why would America care.

Dangerous times to call Trump a buffoon (note that Mr. Trudeau)

Why is it?

He doesn't listen to anyone. I lie, there is an exception.. the voice/s in his head.

Maybe everyone should call him names, & watch him blow a fuse. He can't ignore everyone for the next 4 years.. Where would he be without all the attention?

"Hearing voices..." bit of a stretch, don't you think? What evidence do you have of Trump suffering from psychosis?

Megalomania is a type of psychosis.

I think even Trump’s most rabid supporters will eventually have to ask themselves whether his (and his VP handler’s) increasingly ‘odd’ activities are really what they wanted. For a start, despite the ‘America first’ stuff, I wonder whether the good ol’ boys anticipated that the USA would sell out and asset-strip an ally to the old enemy. There’s no “Hoo-Rah!” in that. Trump is looking like Putin’s poodle.

Trouble is he's there for the duration. 4 years of him and he's already said hes going to take back the Panama canal and get Greenland.

If he regards China as his biggest threat and wants to use Russia as an ally he will, I suspect, quite happily sacrifice Ukraine for his end game.

And get ready for more mass migration. The largest refugee camp in the world is getting it's food supplies halved because of the lack of money from the west.
UN plans to halve rations to Rohingya refugees without urgent funding

The world is becoming a very dangerous place.

'Vance and Trump don't want to hurt Russia too bad as they see them as fellow anti-muslim-extremist, anti-woke, anti-Lgibbertyq, white men'

so said a 'former Vance friend' and speech-writer for George Dubbleya on Radio 4 this morning..

So the ideal scenario would be Putin just "disappearing" but then who would step into his tiny little pixie shoes? He's had any credible opposition bumped off... err... I mean that guy totally just dropped dead for no reason after a nature ramble. Siberian labour camp? Dunno what you're talking about!

Starmer says benefit system unfair and indefensible

Oh really, how so?

Quote:
Addressing Labour MPs on Monday evening, the prime minister said the current welfare system was "the worst of all worlds", discouraging people from working while producing a "spiralling bill".

The comments come as Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall prepares to set out changes to the welfare system and cut the benefits bill in the coming weeks.

This hot on the heels of "we're gonna spend more on defence... by cutting the international aid budget!"

WTF? Starmer just needs to say the word "Remigration" in the next few years and I'll be voting Labour at the next election Shocked

Was thinking much the same. He's more Tory than Richi and Boris were. Laughing

edited to add - or more of a realist as we can't go on squandering tax money as we are.

Right, but when the Tories proposed the same they were foiled by Labour (for political reasons, obviously) and by the Limp Dems they’d inexplicably allowed into their party.

I imagine there was a time when Opposition didn’t automatically mean blocking policies you actually agree with, -but can’t allow because it would paint the government favourably. Parliament no longer works to benefit the people, it works to put a party into power.

They used to be call "Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition" and it didn't need to be explained it meant to one's country and its people Sad

As much as it sticks in my throat to even think of even saying something good about Labour, if Starmer can carry off the benefit reforms and sorting the NHS he'll deserve his plaudits.

We will see if the rank and file who want to spend tax money that doesn't exist on everyone who doesn't warrant it go along or whether they go after him.

Interesting days, and that's without Trumps games.!!

I for one fully support a strike of benefit claimants.

I'm curious as to what it would look like? Do they stop claiming benefits and go to work until such time as their demands are met? Picket DSS offices not allowing anyone to go in? Do they make dontations to food banks while they are on strike?
