Just thought I'd mention that I saw Lidls had some battery
charger/tenders in the other day for £12.99 or so
I had a similar one from Lidls for years and it worked well
until it finally started to get glitchy.
I'm good for chargers so didn't buy one for myself so just mentioning it.

Yeah I've had one for years, I cut the end off the lead to fit a connector that is permanently connected to the bike (battery under the screwed down seat), for £12.99 it's a steal.

Only issue with my variant is when you turn it on, it's in a sort of "report" mode, you have to select motorbike, car etc, so in the event of a powercut you have to go out and reset it.

Hi.. I just snagged one of these - intended use to keep the batt on the Sprinter C'van topped up over winter as it has a few on going light loads I think..

Anyway the destructions suggest that the battery should be isoltaed totally form the vehicle for charging whch would be a bit of PITA as it's tucked away.. Just a precaution do you think or necessary? I was hoping just to connect to the jump point under the bonnet.

I've been using their ULGD 5.0 charger for some time now, and I'm happy with it. It does 6V and 12V, can also safely operate in subzero temperatures, so it's perfect for a motorcycle garage. Thumbs Up

I'm yet to see how effective the battery refresh function is.

They are probably fretting about the consequences of upsetting modern car computers if someone connects or disconnects while leads are live or worst case scenario it went wrong and put extra volts through.
I'd risk it for sure as disconnecting battery each time unless you have an isolator would be a right faff - and not without risk in typical tight space.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was down to the pulse charge mode it can employ for really deaded batteries in normal/trickle mode i can't see it doing any harm

It's (half) dead.. after 2 months Rolling Eyes

My Ultimate Charger ULG 5.0 (C4?) no longer works on high current modes. Only 12v bike mode an 6v mode wth 0.8A max current outputs - enough to trickle nut annoying all the same.

Pressing the mode button now will not select Car (14.4V/5A) or cold car 14.7/5A modes.

I can't get it open due to security screws and I misplaced my bit set for them.. Neutral

Err umm
a bit late but I was in Lidls recently and one of the chargers had been taken out of the box and saw it wasn't the same as I'd bought back when.
It looked smaller and cheaper but if it works ok then good I spose.

I have a big assed Mascot charger that's very good for the van battery but I also have an ebay cheapo I got for £11.99 a few months ago
It seems to do the job of charging bike/scooty batteries ok
The displayed voltage is a few tenths off what my meters say but when it displays FUL I see its holding the battery at 13.9v ish
I haven't tried pulse repair but for the price I wont complain

I see them stiil on Ebay for about the same price
for example

OOh sexy..

My ULG 5.0 is still OK for bikes and trickle just not charging cars from flat. I might open it at some point to see if there's a fuse or obvious burnt device gone...
