Thought I'd go out for a spin the other day now the weather's picking up.
Gave the bike the quick once over, feeling smug because I'd discovered that it was a blown fuse causing the Tank Warning Light cluster to not work (GPZ750A3) Cool

Pulled away and the speedo wasn't working, thought no major problem I expect the cable needs tighten at the speedo. I'll get out of town and check it out. About 10 miles later pulled over to check beneath the speedo .... couldn't find a cable! Shocked I started doubting myself and thought 'Perhaps it's my GPZ550H2 I'm thinking about ... and this one's electronic .... I'll check the manual when I get home''.

Put another 20 odd miles in parked up at home went around the front of the bike ..... and spotted the speedo cable lying along the ground.
Still attached at the wheel end I'd dragged the bloody thing along for 30 miles! Rolling Eyes

Like the title says, ''How Stupid Can You Get''? Why I'd not checked the wheel end I can't say ... Senior Moment Perhaps?

Ah sometimes we just do stupid things inadvertantly.

I didn't have my bonnet properly latched the other day. Wasn't until I could see it wavering whilst doing 60mph down a dual carraigeway I realised how stupid I was. I left it unlatched as a reminder to check the oil in the morning- but I didn't notice.

I'm getting more and more Senior Moments ... last one was wondering why the bike was handling so badly, I eventually twigged it was low tyre pressures ... previously I'd have sussed it straight away.

All the best ... Barry

I'll stick with a post-it note on the steering wheel for this job, slightly less risky Wink

Don’t worry there’s always someone having a more shit week
Such as myself, just came back to the bike after a decent fry up with an old mate, jumped back on the bike and promptly threw it on the floor when I forgot about the disc lock…. Right next to the local DAS guy and his ducklings. Awesome.

I've forgot to put the side stand down more than once. OK on a light bike but if you do it on a Goldwing you are past the point of no return when you register your mistake.

Don't know if it can be classed as MY fault .....
Went for a Blast yesterday down a local Dual Carriageway.... Good 10 miles or so, tucked in behind the bubble pretending to be a Racer! Very Happy

Got to my local meeting place, swung my Bum Bag around to get my wallet out for a drink ....No Wallet! The slipstream must have undone the zip and ripped the wallet out. Not a Happy Teddy. I sometimes wonder if I should be let out on my own Sad

Luckily I had enough shrapnel for a drink.

Cheers Chequered Flag

Good Advice Thumbs Up

Unfortunately I've got so much crap to carry that I haven't got enough pockets in my leather jacket. Plus it's a ''Slim'' fit. Laughing
