I saw one of these in the wild:

https://www.thebusinessdesk.com/_files/images/dec_21/Maeving.jpg

Apparently a Maeving electric bike. The interesting part: I was in the car with the wife and her instant reaction was "oooh! what's that?" So they've succeeded with the "Café Racer" aesthetic as far as the muggles are concerned Smile

Not sure which particular model it was but the RM1S is spec'd at exactly the power limit of a 125 (11.1kW) so L-plates and CBT cert are enough to get on the road. However, 11.1kW from an electric bike is nothing like an ICE 125.

Seven and a half bags and still only 50~90 miles range Sad

Indeed, it would wipe the floor with a conventional learner legal 125. I wonder if it's an oversight or a deliberate ploy to get 17 year olds to buy electric. Well, we now know the answer to those occasional "What's the fastest 125?" posts.

There is one often parked at my work. For sprinting across Central London it's ideal. For my commute from Hampshire to central London it would be an absolute pig.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

52 mile range in sport mode. no thanks. To obtain maximum range out of the bike, you probably will get the performance of a 125.

id be interested in seeing it do a top gear style 3 way drag race.

this maeving thing, a cbf/ybr 125 and a Mito (still restricted, in the interest of fairness)

range wise I think we still have a way to go with battery technology. another generation or 2 (think the jump from lead acid to lithium) might well be the sweet spot where 'miles per cm3 of space used for fuel storage' starts to get to petrol levels, then EVs will start to dominate.

That or someone makes hydrogen actually work and EVs are treated as the wierd 'could have been' history story.

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance.

I saw a thing the other day about Lithium-Sulphur batteries. Sounds promising but all new battery tech is always "some years away from production" Sad

The YBR would surely come in last, perhaps even with the maeving in eco mode. Range? The YBR would still be motoring along in the time the maeving takes to charge. I have ridden my YBR 500km on a tank, with fuel to spare.
