Not helmet cams but take a look at the Vsysto cameras on Amazon. They work off a 12v supply and switch on with the ignition.
Get a wide angle dual camera setup without a screen and you'll have change from £150. Don't forget a memory card.

Clicky.

If the bike doesn't have a battery, fit one. Helmets cams are crap and prone to failure with no warning.

Having a more stealthy setup isn't a bad plan too. It's not unheard of for the popo to go on fishing expeditions on helmet/bike cams.

I got a dual cam Vsysto set up on the Hoonda, works ok and easy enough to fit.
Turns on and off with the ignition so no need to remember start itr running etc. Paid about £100 if I recall.

As my bikes only have ignition and not a 12 or 6V supply the camera must runoff its own power supply.

Incorrectly as I saw on blackbeltbarrister. PACE allow for seizing of recording devices from vehicles or properties but doesn't allow it from the person, which would be where a helmet cam is, as he said in one of his videos (before he went all political reporting).

That doesn't stop you making up a 12v nimh rechargable pack and placing it on the bike.

I was looking at car android screens on Aliexpress with back up cameras and saw ones for motorbikes with front and rear cameras. No idea if they're any good, but if you search up Motorcycle Android on AliExpress all sorts of options turn up that include camera's, blutooth and carplay or whatever it's called at varying prices.

The huge screen might not complement the classic bike look, and you'd have to fangle a 12v battery to it, but other than that it totally meets your needs. Thumbs Up

I had a vehicular CCTV system on my XSR. It worked pretty well in that it turned on with the ignition, required no batteries to charge ahead of time, no noticeable drain while off - fire and forget.

You can get versions without a screen taking up valuable handlebar space, they're operated via Bluetooth and an app. Even so, I wouldn't recommend them if you think you might find yourself accidentally exceeding the speed limit, especially if the unit incorporates GPS.

It was for the battery life that i kept going back to using them, but got fed up with the frustratingly short lifespans. Went through 4 in total, and they all only lasted around 1.5 - 2 years each. Had mic issues with 2 of them too. Shame, as otherwise they were pretty good, solid cameras.

Decided not to bother with them again, and this time i've gone for what sickpup suggested above. Haven't fitted them yet, but it all looks pretty good quality so far. Think i'll have to make some mildly stealthy mounts though, and, maybe, should the need ever arise, some way of easily concealing them...

Purchased and it works well! Very annoying green LED above the rear LCD screen though. Thanks

Have a dig through the settings. Sometimes you can switch such things off.
