Your vehicle is already classed within a specific bracket, paying 0 or 5 or 20 quid it doesn't matter it can (and will) always go up. You gotta wait until it is 40 years old or just SORN and never drive the vehicle to get around this. I didn't mean tax in relation to my comment about retroactivity.

My tax started at zero and is still zero.

Not in this case. The woman from accounts needs her spending money from somewhere and the motorist is such a good target. Evil or Very Mad . Those sneaky Labour bastards have back dated it to cover my shit box Pug. OK, it's only gone up to £20 which is peanuts compared to some other vehicles (just don't own a big gas guzzler) but it's still a fcuking liberty. What did they say? We won't be making the working man worse off?!

Wheres Nobby? God, isn't it amazing how the left hide when their masters fuck everything up so bad.

I mean... Lifelong Tory voter here... Adding £20 to vehicle tax is hardly f*ing things up on the level of the last little tranche of Tory government. The amount we had to spend out during Covid (one small good thing that the last government did) we were ALWAYS going to need tax rises of one form or another.

Careful now, that much logic in one sentence might make Polar brand you one of nobbies screaming left loonies, even if you've fessed up to being on his side.

Had to tax my bike for the sum of zero whole pounds again recently. Not too much of an issue, type the reference number into the website etc etc. Boils my piss tho that I cant declare it as historic once and it just be done. Why do I have to 'pay' tax every year (and am liable for a fine if i dont pay the fee of ZERO), when a SORN declaration lasts until DVLA are notified otherwise?

Is my 40+ year old bike going to become not 'historic'? (No doubt Polar will chime in now 'dont give labour ideas' etc)

To be fair I think it's more in the interest of maintaining a reasonably accurate database of vehicles actually in use rather than in a set of boxes in a shed somewhere.

After taking part in being generally offensive with copious amounts of piss taking without problem, somebody said something which pushed Nobby over the line in terms of what's acceptable.

He won't say specifically what it was, just that BCF is now too racist. Something is the straw that broke the camels back and I want to know what was it that crossed the line. Laughing

"You did something egregious."

Oh yes? What was it?"

"Not telling!"

Ste, if/when you next speak to Nobby you might suggest he reads Franz Kafka's "The Trial".

I think you give civil servants too much credit, I think they did it this way because it was easier to change the sale price to £0 than to actually set up a historic system built on the back of the SORN system.

My builder friend has Iveco tipper truck can carry 2 tons and sort of ( Laughing ) needs a tachograph the tax is about £190 or was last year.
It's 14 plate same as my Isuzu pickup and that's about £340
They are both used for similar work and towing.
It's just grab grab grab. Both these vehicles are needed for work, if the idea is to force you to buy an electric mini or go on a non-existent bus instead it isn't a viable option

That's the same as me PHGV vs PLG - 3.5 ton threshold.
