But gold is useful at any time: jewellery, electronics and dentistry Smile BTC as a non-reversable proof of work is a store of value because we say it is. I think it says a lot about us humans and our evolution!

Damn, I edited the first line and now realise it doesn't get the point across so well. Change family for "the love of family members" or something.

As I mentioned before, value comes in many forms. Crypto offers a particular service. If the value it offers you is nil, or you think the value it offers others is less than the current exchange price, don't buy any! Such an easy solution.

It's a digital version of pass the parcel, like with the Dutch tulips. At some point a bunch of mugs (long-term holders) are going to be left high and dry. Or not, because human stupidity can never be overestimated.
