There actually have been mutterings about the cost of housing swashbucklers. And it would make logical sense for a Labour government to get bent out of shape about it when they discover the pots of money going to Tory chums to "manage" the acquiring and rental of private hotels. Thing is, what to replace that system with?

Look to Éire where they're building special... err... camps where these people are... err... concentrated. For the UK, conversion of old military camps would be cheaper. Starmer just needs to wait an acceptable interval to implement such an idea given it was Labour backed Rent-a-mob that stymied the previous government's attempt with these things.
