Testing The Octane And Ethanol Content Of Tesco Momentum 99 Super Unleaded Petrol
Seems to consistently contain no ethanol! FYI E5 can contain up to 5% ethanol but there's no minimum. A general objection to the horizontal market, all consuming retail behemoth? Fair enough. But Tesco only makes a fraction of the profits the likes of Shell and Esso pocket. In relative terms, Tesco is a local shop for local people compared to the global operations of the other two. #JustSayin'

I'm curious - where does it say E10 can contain 5-10% ethanol? Could it not potentially be 0-10%?

I suspect the cheap fuel is something of a loss leader for Tesco, so since I buy their petrol but nothing from the shop, I'm probably fucking them over.
I buy their petrol because it's 99 octane and my enfield is on the cusp of detonation at the best of times anyway, most other brands of E5 are 97 octane. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Not if it's 95 though?
Either way, I only buy 95 'e10' and I leave my vehicles for years sometimes and I never have an issue starting them back up. Only one of my 8 vehicles is from this side of the millenium. I bought some 95 e5 before it stopped being sold, and bought the 95 e10 varient afterwards. Both from the same Tesco. Both stored in glass containers. Semi-sealed I guess - some fuel did evaporate up to a point - both caps bulged over time. I kept them both for about 18 months. I found that the e5 was the one that had the water in the bottom of it, not the e10..
