Hi

Not sure, but I think it is about 30mm. I will have a look tonight at the spare Bandit 1200 engine I have floating round as that it probably the same size. However it is quite likely that you will need an air impact driver to get the nut off easily (so buy a black impact socket), as otherwise it is just likely to spin the shaft when you try and undo it.

All the best

Keith

Measure across the flats of the nut, that is the size you want

Like Keith says an impact socket is probably best. Failing that you will get away with a mate holding the rear brake on with the bike in 6th gear and a brake bar on the socket. Not sure if there are any locktabs on the GSX600 so check before you try and undo the bolt or you'll be there forever and a day.

Damn! Tried everything to get this nut off. Even bought an impact driver and soaked, i mean soaked it in WD40. Any more ideas would greatly be welcome before my TEEPOT drives me nuts!

Hi

Suzuki use a 32mm nut on mid to large bikes

I just got a new one from Halfords £5.69

My nut was bloody tight as well

I loosened the front sprocket nut before anything else
Bike on the ground no stand , a mate standing on the rear brake
front brake also on hard
and a medium sized torque wrench (load of leverage) undo anticlockwise.

Not sure an impact driver will do the job as the nut is on the end of the primary shaft and so it is free wheeling and you have a certain ammount of lash in the transmission to deal with.

You could lock it into gear but you will then load up the transmission in reverse as you undo it and I prefer not to do that.

Good old Suzuki sprocket nuts Laughing

As said, in gear, someone standing on the back brake. I've also resorted to putting a piece of 4 x 2 timber through the back wheel to jam against the swinging arm.

Then use the correct sized socket on a breaker bar, not a ratchet handle 'cos you'll kibosh the ratchet, and a piece of stout tubing, scaffold pole for example, over the end of the breaker bar.

I've started with the end of the lever at ground level by the rear sprocket, and the nut hasn't cracked until I've got the bar vertical and level with the petrol tank.

Thanks for your help guys. Finally got nut undone. Bloody job that was. Took me forever. Anyway done now. New sprockets and chain are on and my Suzuke teapot is back on the road champing at the bit for some knee down action. THanks once again. You've all been a great help
