£420 for a VFR750, highly modified Enfield Bullet with all mods declared, Enfield trials bike and Minsk 125. Specialist modified vehicle policy, pre-agreed value and retention of salvage in case of a total loss, Euro recovery covering classic bikes.

The 9hp minsk is the "main" bike on the policy, for some reason the most expensive to insure.

Hi all,

just been through the painful process of trying to get quotes for my MT-07 (restricted), as I wasn't happy about the renewal quote. Got it sorted in the end.

But this was not an easy task as I am 87 with just under 4 years' biking experience. I have discovered that most of them are covered by one umbrella. Those that I know are: - Adrian Flux, Honda, Bikesure, MCN, Devitt, Ageas, Devitt, Bennetts, Triumph. I'm sure there are more.

They've even got BIBA under their thumb. After a longish conversation with them I got transferred to Adrian Flux.

If you doubt it, try ringing, say Bikesure, and listen to the recorded messages whilst you are waiting. Then try another, same blurb.

As for Compare the Market, GoCompare etc. They are a total waste of time.

It's a minefield. Don't get blown up in it.

It's not fraud. There is no false representation, there is no failure to disclose and there also isn't any abuse of position.

They make no secret of that fact they're just a trading name of Adrian Flux. In fact, that's probably how Tony Norton came to discover that some insurance brokers are covered by one umbrella.

The 125 & ZX6R bump the price up, it's about £100 just for the 2 old bikes.

Going to take some serious punishment when I renew in a few months as I wadded my old Mondeo into an X3 earlier this year.

Something to watch out for...

As expected, my insurance renewal quote has better than halved. Consulting the Meerkats, various providers "throw in" extra services as part of the policy. Go with Bennetts? Reasonable price but any extras like breakdown cover are eyewatering compared to most of the others. The variance is £30~£70.

Bandit 1250, age 55, clean license, full NCB but London postcode. I'm paying £140 TPFT with business Class 1 cover.

Two years ago I was paying similar for fully comp when suddenly they wanted nearly £400 at renewal (and that was about the cheapest).

This year I could have got fully comp for around £200 but the bike's worth bugger all and with a £500 excess it probably wouldn't be worth claiming anyway.

My insurance is a pain in the arse, I usually start looking a month before it's due to see if I can get it sorted and usually end up sticking with same insurer.

40 year old / no points / 10+ years NCB - All mods declared across the bikes and there's a lot

It was £4,000 the year before so I guess that's a bonus
