today (well thursday) I sucessfully snapped the driveshaft in 2. Pulled it out and confirmed its bollocksed yesterday, today Im trying to research who can make a driveshaft for me with splines on both ends but one end is about 2x diameter the other.
That or I put the original diff and shaft back in but the gearing is outright rediculous on that, i.e. first gear is pretty much only for burnouts. ____________________ own: 81 xs1100g...

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance. |

Had a tinker with the Old Fella's Triumph. A few weeks ago it was running nicely, now it's doing a combustion pig impression
Spark plugs wet, relatively clean and with the correct gap. Spark is pretty weak though. Coils are relatively new, correct ohmage for both sides. From a process of elimination can only put it down to the old Lucas AB11 "ignition amplifier". It's the original 40+ year old part so we're going to try the "Rex's Rita Rebuild" board, see if that sorts it.
With a multimeter: voltage across the coils ~11V. With the Lucas unit disconnected ~12.6V (the battery voltage) ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Getting it ready for MOT, done all the little bits but major bits are front brakes are very spongy (wil try bleeding for now) and the right fork is leaking.
Got my old set of forks and was going to rebuild with new oil seals/dust seals ... can't get the feckers apart, the oil seal is jammed solid ... so had to use another spare fork to hopefully get it through the MOT.
Oh, and while putting the bike up onto axle stands to take the front end off, the feckin thing slipped off the first stand and started rolling backwards, had taken the calipers off and left it in neutral so couldn't stop it.
Cue the terrified realisation I was about to drop the bike, first of all it started falling away from me, got that back and then it fell towards me, all the while will still rolling backwards.
Due to the heart issues I have I have very little strength these days, how I actually managed to keep it upright I'll never know, but I did |

I have a silicone tube, blocked at one end with a split about an inch from the end, other end fits over the bleed nipple ... pumping the lever will cause the split to open and therefore expels air/fluid and it seals up again after the lever is released.
I'll have a look at the vacuum pump, but it's sticking pistions due to crap behind the dust seals most likely, I need to strip them down and give them a good clean. |
