Hi all.
125cc scooter. Honda Pantheon 2002, about 12,000 miles, Yusa battery 1 year old.
It just dies when it hits a bump sometimes.
The first time, hit a pot hole and it wouldn't re-start and I pushed it home ( luckily only 10 mins away). This was with my wife on the back.
Got it home and went back to it 20 mins later and it started first time.
Today on the way home from shopping, I hit a smaller bump and it died again. It was just near my turn off so I coasted around the corner and it started up again.
I haven't had time to look into it yet. I'm guessing it's something electrica like a loose connection. I'm just looking for suggestions of where to start, apart from the obvious battery terminals. There's so much plastic on these things, it's going to take me half the day to get it off
Any help/suggestions from those in the know |

Battery terminals are a good start, as well as making sure the battery is properly fixed in place and not bouncing about and shorting against bodywork.
Loose plug cap is another easy tjing to check. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

So, I've managed to get some time to take a look at the wiring.
After much swearing and head scratching, I've got the seat off the luggage rack and the under seat storage removed.
There's nothing obviously loose or corroded, I've checked the main earth to the frame, the ecu and any connections/relays.
They all seem secure, so I thought I'd reconnect the battery, start it and try wriggling things about. Now when I turn on the ignition I'm not getting an FI light. Temp gauge and time/mileage display still work, but no FI light and no start.
So one step forward, two steps back |
