Don't lie, who here uses services like deliveroo, uber, and just eat, to get food delivered from take aways and shops???

1) Do you not feel guilty and ashamed that you are giving jobs to illegals and economic migrants?

2) How the heck can you entrust your food to the grubby hands of total strangers who don't go through any sort of checks and who work completely unregulated?

From my own personal viewpoint I hardly ever use takeaways as I was a professional chef for well over 20 years so I know how to cook fresh food to a high standard, and also, I hate the idea of trusting a dodgy scrote with something I'm about to eat, but on the rare occasion I fancy an authentic Indian curry or Chinese Banquet or Greek Kebab etc I will always go and collect it myself.

The only food delivery services I will trust are the ones from the main supermarkets.

How are the grubby hands of an unregulated total stranger that prepares your food any different to the grubby hands of an unregulated total stranger that delivers it?

I dunno why this has cropped up in the news this week as this has how it's been from the very start. And before that it was mini-cab licences shared between multiple Mohammeds Rolling Eyes It's a thing and has always been a thing. Police, councils and the government have been turning a blind eye for decades. On top of that, none of them are properly insured for "hire and reward" if insured at all.

Again I ask: who do the police serve, who do the politicians represent? It isn't the natives.

BTW, I hate to be "that guy" again but this is more a topic for the political section than random banter.

Well that depends how long you've lived in that area. Generally speaking most takeaways have hygiene ratings these days so that's a good starting point and if you know the area well enough you will have seen if the takeaway is always busy or not and you will have heard about its reputation. The way the staff look (i.e do they all wear the same clean and smart uniforms) is another good indicator of trust level and professionalism. Open kitchens are always a bonus too so you can see the cooks/chefs in action.

It's a fine line and the subject could go one or the other depending on the replies.

Mmm... burgers:

Big Boi Burgers - Cooking in Migrant Hotel Kitchen at Cedar Court 4 Star Hotel Wakefield

"Dark Kitchens" - a concept that came out of the Covid lockdowns. I always wondered about that nomenclature at the time Thinking

hygiene ratings are a fecking joke.
the shit pits around here get inspected, fail terribly, then they just tell them to sort it and they will come back and check again in a few days.
place gets cleaned and given a 5 star rating on the next inspection, then goes back to being the shit hole it is.

True, and all the more reason why I don't eat takeaway food very often...

Most of the deliveries here are done by local 'natives'.

I rarely have any kind of food delibery
as I'm quite capable of feeding myself thank you very much.

Anyway, the guy who I've done of lot work fixing scoots for
tells me he one of the few, if not the only, UK native delivery wallah in Bristol
Lately he's been stopped/checked quite a few times to check his status

I dont know what effect this has but it does look like the popo
are quite typically going after low hanging fruit to me.
I mean the big box is a dead give away right?
you dont have to be Sherlock Holmes

A bigger question is who are th hordes of idle fuckwits who prop up this brattish must have it now! service 'industry'?

The overnemnt must like it though - keeps employment figures respectable? Gives the boat people employment and helps justify immigration policy?

Who knows? but almost everything about it is illegal form the de-restricted e-bikes to the work passes/permits that get passed around between mates - absurdly too these companies pay little tax cos they don't make any money.

I'm not concerned about the food hygeine aspect. The takeaway that makes the food will usually staple or tape the bag shut, so that tampering is apparent. Also the person delivering it has no reason to tamper with it, they're just trying to do a job.

I do dislike the big platform tech companies running a service that rips me off, rips off the takeaway, and exploits the person doing the delivery. They've managed to build a model where it's pretty much impossible to make a fair wage whilst remaining legal, but making sure that the law breaking is sufficiently low level to only attract police attention during a targeted operation.

The people doing the deliveries are not your enemy. They're just doing a shit job that no-one else wants.

Apart from the raping in their off-hours Wink

These services did not exist until Deliveroo, UberEats etc. came along. Previously punters picked up their own takeaways or delivery was restaurant-fulfilled. We don't need these services and the main reason they're even viable is by leveraging modern-day slavery.

Well possibly, but wouldn't it be great if the feckless subscribers (who have soem mobility) didn't support these worthless enterprises allowing the workers to take up more meaningful and productive employ.
