If you were wrongly arrested due to a pure allegation, and humiliated, and felt violated in civil terms, and no charges were ever brought against you, would you sue the Police for compo or not??

No win no fee solicitor basis..

Unless you identify as a member of a marginalised community or have purple hair I think your chances are slim Wink

If you're asking morally is it right to sue the police, we're well beyond the "policing by consent" and respect for the bobby-on-the-beat of yesteryear. No one's going to go "how very dare you!" if you snag a fat pay out.

If Farage gets in the po-po will be around your house kicking 7 shades out of you for just suggesting as much.

I wouldn't p*ss on them if they were on fire.

Have they told you there will be no further action yet or are you still on police bail?

The way these things usually go is they eventually push for you to accept a formal caution so they can collect the brownie points for a completed case and if you refuse, drag you into the magistrates court on a section 5 public order offence.

They did similar to my Dad after he had a toe-to-toe shouting match (nothing further, it was over a fence) with a guy over access to a boat launch ramp. My Dads solicitor (a good one) advised him to just accept the caution and chalk it up to experience. He said the police locally to him will think nothing of embellishing the story to make a prosecution stick if you dare to challenge their authority. My Dad was all for fighting it to the bitter end but the solicitor dissuaded him.

Winning hearts and minds. They turned my Dad from someone with a lifelong respect for the police into someone who as above, wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. He wouldn't even report a theft from his garage recently. He also refused to give them footage from his doorbell camera when they asked for it unless they came back with a warrant.

I'm pretty sure this entire thread contravenes at least ten recently instituted laws.

On bail at the moment and have to voluntarily go back in 3 months.
No charges yet despite being detained for 17 hours and interviewed.

Hetzer is a stickler for the law and has a lot of respect for the police so probably doesn't understand why someone would want to sue them.
