As the title suggests my project bike is experiencing no power on key.

I've checked the whole wiring harness for damage but came to no issues, Checked all fuses, non have blown even checked for continuity.

Bike has a kick start so once key is on a good kick will bring the girl alive but will happily die after, Battery is new and charged, Starter motor isnt clicking and continuity is hit and miss (red on red and black on black it bleeps vise visa it does not). It's like the current flow stops after the fuses.

No idea what the issue could be so i came here to find advice!

Thanks

Iffy ignition switch? After that I'd check the kick stand and clutch lever switches.

2019 Lexmoto Isca 125 - 5.6k Miles - New(ish) Engine from a 2022 Isca 125

Pretty much stripped the wiring harness to find a plague of black copper in the areas like ignition, Right hand switch! ill just replace the whole loom and the ignition. See if it works.

AI Overview:
The Lexmoto LXR 125, while stylish and affordable, has some reported common issues, mainly related to its electrical system and stand. Owners frequently cite problems with the ignition switch and switchgear due to water ingress and corrosion, causing starting issues and sometimes affecting the display

Bottom line is its a 6 year old Lexmoto badged sausage factory bike
and they're not renowned for quality or longevity so 6 years is probably well past its 'use by' date.
AI also says
"The bikes are manufactured by companies like Zongshen and TARO in China and then imported and branded under the Lexmoto name for the UK market"

Its a shame the Chinese dont make fewer but better bikes and build a good rep.
Instead they pump out new models every week like disposable lighters it seems and I'm struggling to think of one that stands out.

If it's not EFI then it will have simple electrics and work arounds are relatively straight forward if you're handy with electrics.
If it is EFI and/or LCD clocks then things get a bit trickier but the Delphi ECU is easy to quiz for fault codes.

After a quick look over the ignition switch and the right switch gear, i can kindly confirm there both well and truly f*cked by i think water ingress, the wires were either black or very rusty in colour, Cheap to replace, did a proper check on the starter relay and motor they both work fine with great resistance.

always the little things with Chinese motors. Fun to mess around with though. i have a beautiful chinese bike from 2013, 78K miles and still runs like a dream, treat them well they last!

Same cant be said about this motor but no foul only cost me £100

OK, good luck with it.
I agree that a lot could be kept running with a bit of attention and proper servicing as not everyone has thousands of pounds to spend on a bike.

One upside is, many use common components across models which are largely derived/cloned from base japanese models
so when you know what engine and fuel/ignition system you have, you can often get parts quite cheaply or mod stuff to work.

I can confirm that Chinky electrics are fairly suspect on all the ones I've ever had to turn a spanner on.

However the engines are actually pretty good these days. Certainly no worse than "vintage" Honda CD/CMX stuff. My particular Honda 250 copy engine is so bolt-for-bolt I can use any Honda bits with it and from what I can tell the quality is exactly the same.

I currently run a Honda gearbox in a Chinky engine with a Honda CD200 head atop Chinky barrels with a pair of Yamaha YBR pistons, a Chinky crank and feck knows what kind of Honda/Chinese clutch hybrid gubbins and everything just fits together and works. I can't actually see any significant difference between Honda and Chinese engine internals.

But I did make all my own electrical system because like I said standard Chinese electrics are not great in my experience.

friend bought his son an LXR to do cbt on etc...it kept randomly cutting out after 2 minutes or so.
A lot of troubleshooting later and it was water ingress into the ignition coil, due to its shit location near front of engine and lack of any water protection

they'll learn...it'll take time but they keep refining these things.
