Took the carb off again and drained the fuel out that was in the bowl then poured it back into the bowl put a clear pipe on the over flow and the fuel level was level with the top of the bowl! The car is as clean as the last time I cleaned it, all jets clear, all passages clear, no issues as far as I can see!

Put back together and the bike is exactly the same!

Takes 18-20 seconds of turning over to start!

Ok, can you remember the condition / colour of the spark plug upon removal?

When it starts is there a few puffs of dark smoke?

Does it have a high flow air filter fitted?

Have you tried a temporary home made denser / low flow air filter (blow through them)?

Will need to remove the plug again to check, have fitted a new one, the air filter is standard, bike is standard, no dark smoke, not tried another air filter.

If possible remove the plug after trying to start it without starting to see if the plug is wet with fuel.
Also try easy start spray with fine tube (i use GT85) and spray into carb inlet as far as possible ON FULL THROTTLE then remove and try starting engine also on full throttle and NO choke.
Surely it should cough ?

Managed to finally get the plug out, I know know why they made it so difficult, the plug was dry a little black on the edge but dark brown in the Center, I did try the plug out of the engine it wasn’t sparking, I put a jumper pack on and it started sparking fine, put it back together and it still wouldn’t start properly, maybe a little better with a jump pack but more like 15 seconds instead of 20 seconds, not tried carb spray in the intake yet, will wait until it cools down again!

"""""I did try the plug out of the engine it wasn’t sparking,""""
Why was that? Is the spark better on the kick start ?

Yeah sparked with kick start, however the bike won’t start from cold with kickstart, no matter how many time you kick it, once it has started it will start from kickstart

See how you get on with the spray method.

Didn’t really start any better, pretty much the same, sprayed a bit of carb cleaner in there

I`ve tried carb cleaner and it evaporates too quickly, as said i use gt45 on all engines ( more so 2 strokes) because it has a lubricant and runs a little bit longer .

The bike is a 4 stroke, tried gt85 this morning, no difference at all unfortunately, took forever to start!

Using the spray, does it cough like it's trying to start but just won't keep going?

No cough at all, just keeps turning over until it eventually starts

Hmm... I would guess some sort of spark issue. Down on compression or bad timing would at least get a cough out of it.

Yes I’m going to take the coil off and check it over, the bike runs absolutely fine once it starts but it’s just getting it started, I am thinking spark, maybe taking a while to get spark for some reason, will check again when I get some time tomorrow

It’s something to do with the spark! Don’t know what’s but it doesn’t spark at all then it does, maybe a loose cdi connection inside the cdi/coil, will get another one of them and see if the issue persists

Alls well that ends well. What was the cause of the problem? Was it a failed ignition module, sensor air gap, or something else?

Not sure what the problem was exactly but the CDI and coil is one unit, I changed it and everything is fine, it must have been breaking down some how.

Starts on the button and with the kickstart now.
