Looks like it's all coming to a head:

Trump calls Zelensky a 'dictator' as rift between two leaders deepens

Technically the Orange Hooligan may be correct but electing dictators in wartime is a tradition that dates back to the Roman Republic. Anyhoo, the players have been forced to line up and it seems to be America and Russia vs. the rest of NATO and Ukraine Confused

If I were Trump I'd point out to the Ukrainians that much as they'd like the eastern half of their country back it's full of ethnic Russians anyway and would probably be a massive pain in the arse to look after. Then again, it's hard to explain that when you don't fucking invite them to the negotiating table! A diplomatic move equivalent to scraping some shit off your shoe before setting foot in Riyadh Sad

No movement from the Russians is likely. Strategically they'll want to hold onto all the oblasts joining up Russia to Crimea otherwise they'll just keep fighting. They might keep going another year but after that Russia will entirely collapse, politically and economically. Fun to watch, pop it in your diary, until you consider amongst the chaos is a stockpile of nuclear weapons Shocked

So Russian won't budge, Ukraine can't join NATO, no one wants any foreign so-called peace keepers hanging about, how to keep the peace?

The killer move would be for Trump to say to Putin: "fine, keep what you have but you have to give Ukraine back their nuclear weapons." Twisted Evil

Well that didn't age well..... I popped it in my diary, and the year is almost up. That's what happens when you listen to MSM. I would suggest Whitney Webb, Glen Diesen, Alex Christoforu, Jeffrey Sachs, but I know you probably won't bother.

I know the western leaders don't like to admit Russia is kicking their asses, but the only reason they are talking to Russia at all, is because Russia is winning and they lack the funds and the weapons to do anything about it. They are desperate for a ceasefire to preserve as much of UKR as they can.

Putin won't stop while there's a chance promise that the west will use the cessation of fighting to re-equip/rearm and flood UKR with western forces, under the guise of 'peacekeepers'.

Europe wants Russias resources, and always has, and to that end has decided to go the AI/drone/robot method of fighting the planned future war and is piling funds into the MIC to that effect. When Europe go to war (and they are planning to by 2030, hence the round of tax increases to fund it) all the kids will be drone pilots/missile launchers/AI programmers. Hence they won't need massive conscription, because their stock of cannon fodder are not up to the job, and/or they think they don't need them. The west are bankrupt for real, there is no way out, and their only solution (as it has been forever in such cases), is to go to war.

Russia knows this, and will continue to stockpile, and develop new weapons. One thing is certain. The European war will be nothing as gentle as the SMO going on in UKR, the gloves will come off and Russia will commence a real war.

I'm not sure about that unless Russia goes nuclear.

I really thought they would steamroller through Ukraine but it hasn't happened.

It's not that simple, especially as it's more than twice the size of the UK.

Also the Special Military Operation (SMO) is designed to:

*Lose as few Ruskies as possible, so as to not upset the civies.
*Utilize cost effective weaponry to designated targets.
*Cost as little as possible, which means at this rate they can go on forever.

They also assumed the majority of UKRs, were against what their puppet government were doing for the 8 years before the invasion, because they're mostly of Russian descent.

Also note that all politicians are still being given access to Ukraine, some this that would never be allowed in a full blown war.

It has to be noted that many inhabitants refuse to leave their dwellings, and retire to the cellars to wait it out. If they are unlucky enough to be seen by the retreating UKRs, they are either shot as collaborators when they answer the knock on the door, or the house is blown up, or set alight.

Many of the buildings that are used by the retreating UKRs, who upon leaving them, leave behind IED's in the form of booby traps, so advancing Ruskies have to be extremely careful every step of the way, and every house and every cellar has to be checked. In a big city like Mariupol, Bakmut, Pokrovsk, etc, this all takes time.

Quite often the UKR's go on the offensive locally and push the Ruskies out of any newly capture territory, but this is usually short lived, as the Ruskies retreat to save on casualties, and send in the khinzals, TOS-1A/2 FABs and drones, before retaking it.

You can watch all this unfolding on Weeb Union (on YT) who does a 5~10 min map update every day.

On Telegram, such channels as:
InfoDefenseEnglish
Two Majors English Channel
Murat-SAN for both Ukranian and Russian video/cams (NSFW)
The Duran (for the political aspects and analysis)

Would keep you updated, with the real news.

I wonder how that is panning out with an estimate of nearly 1 million dead/wounded?
How fortunate they must feel to have Putin's media machine to tell them their dead sons are just figments of their imagination.
