I have the mug, it's on my special shelf with my other BCF mug, Pride of place. Only I get to use them on special occasions.

I don't think there is any more 'censorship' on BCF than there ever has been. We used to occasionally get away with things that were on the edge, but we got a kicking from Korn on a number of occasions as I recall. At one stage the whole site was shut down for a week because of the f*ckery that happened.

The issue is that the people who use these forums got older, people migrated to other social media platforms and a lot of them got out of biking. It's not the same as it used to be, but I don't think it's any more censored or moderated than it has been. In fact, there are hardly any mods left now. At one stage there were something like five or six mods and an admin.

Nobcat was always over the edge, in fact it represented being over the edge and Korn explicitly put in rules for Ste because of the prevalence of Ste posting images that were against the rules.

For me, the thing I miss the most is the f*cwittery of riding, as nowadays an 'extreme' ride is not skids and wheelies, or getting your knee down, but riding your GS to Starbucks at the speed limit. However, I also am aware that some of us are alive by fluke and there are also others of us who are no longer with us too.

TL;DR - Nostalgia is overrated.

We need people constantly pushing the envelope to reveal the walls of the moral prison we have constructed for ourselves. Gods bless you, ste, we thank you for your service Wink

I hear what FF68 is saying, I use to make sport of how innocuous a comment I could construct on the PUBG forums to get banned. I gave up after "you will literally get banned for making jokes by the admins!" which they took umbrage with Rolling Eyes They shut the forums down not long after and moved to Reddit.

BCF has a clever self-regulating mechanism which doesn't run on ego which is very rare. It's a shame the tech is so creaky but all the activity seems to have moved to Reddit and Facebook groups anyway. Both are very accessible but neither are any good as a repository of information and experience. And again, they run on ego - specifically who is ultimately in charge of the group.

BCF members were very kind and supportive of me in my time of need and I will forever be thankful to those members.

Facebook was almost over night an issue for the forum, some knew people by actual name and others only knew people by their forum name, Obviously Facebook normally uses your real name or a version of it, so a lot of people were lost. Plus people become busy on other things and forget to post things on more than one format.

Anyway I'm off to have a mug of hot chocolate and toast.

The BCF and general motorcycling stuff, most certainly. I have other emotional baggage attached to that era though, which is something of a shame.

Long live nobcat, sockpocalypse was a wild time too..

The old bcf was fun as shit, toxic and immature and certainly way out of line but it had a way of dealing with people who needed to be dealt with but that came with the its drawbacks like karma fucking people for bants.

Im too old for that level of grief these days, tbat was near 15 years ago now!

I would imagine the average age of BCF users has steadily increased over the years.

I have tried to direct a few new bikers to the forum, but they don't get the point.

They would rather ask Chat GPT and get a bullshit answer that wait for a reply on here from the elder gods like Sickpup, Stinkwheel or Ariel Badger.
