Random text message from an unknown mobile number: "Hello"

Damn, what to do? I considered "Identify target and location" or some other sinister line but instead I replied in Latin. Turned out it was only a chatbot doing a recruitment scam Sad

New scam or maybe old but new to me. Selling a car on FB marketplace. Couple of interested people. Both asked for a report on the car that they wanted ME to pay for, they send the link and you use that to HPI the car for them to show them that there is nothing wrong with the car.

Apparentley it's to steal your ccard details and personal info. I refused point blank both times, different sites by all account judging by the URLs given.

Googled it and this came back.

How the Scam Works

The most common version of this scam occurs when you are selling a car online.
A "buyer" contacts you (usually via text message or email) and expresses keen interest in the car.
They insist on an HPI check but direct you to a specific, unfamiliar, third-party website to purchase it, often claiming they will reimburse you.
The website is a fake designed to look professional, but its sole purpose is to capture your personal details and bank/credit card information when you enter them to pay for the "report".
Information is stolen and potentially used for identity theft or unauthorised recurring charges. The scammer then disappears.
